Resuppling troops overseas?

Post by Warspite3 »

I am not sure how I need to do this. For example, I conducted an amphibious assault on another continent across the ocean. I landed 4 divisions of various types, mainly infantry and artillery pieces. I started to slowly to lose supply, I could not figure out what I needed to do to get supplies to those troops. Maybe someone can clarify this for me? I have a few light tank divisions I am sending over there too so I can help reinforce that beachhead but I desperately need supplies! Hurry my troops can't hold out much longer! [X(]

I believe you need to capture a port or city-by-the-sea for supplies to flow well to your troop. Also you need an HQ with cargo ships in it in another port/city that your Marines are attached to to get supplies.

You can also send Engineers with you and build a make shift prt to get supplies if no existing ports are handy.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

You must first have a headquarters in a port city with lots of cargo ships INSIDE the headquarters. The Units across the ocean must either be attached to this headquarters or one near them that is attached to this headquarters. Second you need a port to deliver supplies to your troops. Either capture a city or as suggested build a make shift port with engineers. You lose most supplies across a non port hex. Until you have a port place a headquarters in a beach hex and attached all units ashore to it. This should (If I read the rules right) allow some supplies to trickle in to the headquarters if it is attached itself to a headquarters in a port with Cargo ships in the headquarters,

Failing the availability of engineers or a port city, capture an inland city, build or assign a headquarters to receive production from that city, assign all the invasion force to this headquarters and produce supply in the city.

That must be what I was missing. I need to either capture a city or build a make shift port. I do have a HQ on my home continent in a port city with cargo ships. I did setup a new HQ on the invasion hex but it was not getting any supplies to it or the units I attached. The good news for me is I do happen to have a small battalion of engineers attached to one of my invasion divisions, I can use them to build a port since I know I can't capture any of the AIs cities there yet. Once I get those light tank divisions landed, hopefully I can push inland (or travel up the shores a ways) and capture a real city. Well thanks and back to the war...
