RE: Trip OS to US

Post by Raverdave »

More attacks dished out to the happless Brits, this time it was dogfights. In some of the biggest dogfights yet seen in the South East hundreds of Jap fighters attempted to over run the RAF.  And while the defenders of Ahmadabad were sorely pressed they still gave a good accounting of themselves and blooded the jap's nose.

Honda seems more willing to press forward with attacks, where as in the past he was happen to sit behind his barbed-wire fence.  But if he follows his past form these attacks will wither away and he will return to his skulking ways.

Crushing attack !

Post by Raverdave »

Again Honda launches a crushing attack on one of the three remaining British bases in India. This time Malir feels the full force of the murderous jap empire. With over fifty aircraft destroyed in the air and on the ground, questions are now being asked of the RAF's leadeship.

In other news the USN's campaign to slowly squeeze the life from japan by blockading the home islands, continues to show encouraging results with the sinking of the Akashisan Maru. This is a slap in the face of the IJN as the attack took place one hex away from the home islands.
No where is safe for jap ships as the USn continues to take back control of the seas.

Tarawa Falls !

Post by Raverdave »

...........well kinda [8|] Hero Honda made the choice not to contest the Gilberts instead he was quite content to let his minefields do the work for him. To date I have lost one AK and looks like a DD will not make it either. On top of that I have one APD and one DD that will both need some dock work over the next three months.

I think that Hero Honda will not really worry about the Gilberts falling as it is not a threat to his perimeter. However I know that he WILL fight for the Marshalls and that is going to be the next big battle ground in the coming two months. the question is will he use his carriers to defend them?

Nice of you ask. Yes. And the most of te Oscar guys were +90 exp! Goes to show what numerical superiority coupled with the bounce can do.
So far my Oscar losses were limited. In fact, they still are. The plane is performing well when not outnumbered. The tweeks I made on it with mvr 36 and dur 27 are making an impact rusulting in portraying the plane what it historicaly was - a very dangerous opponent when flown by good pilots. So all you have to do is put them in a favourable situation and they will do thier duty rather decently. Which is again historicaly accurate.

Kamikaze were a weapon employed by the Japanese in the latter stages of the war due to the fact that they were desperate. I, on the other hand, am not. That means that my Oscars will be use in conventional manner and continue shooting down the likes of Hellcat, Corsair and whatever you throw at me.
Do an update on India Raver, if I do it it might sound a bit...well...nasty on you. Will you?

RE: Tarawa Falls !

Post by wdolson »

Every time I see this title, I think it would make a good name for a fictitious town in some kind of wry humor piece.  One of those things that has humor and meaning on several levels.

Something like Tarawa Falls, Wisconsin.  Of course the family in the story would not be a happy one.

India..the black hole.

Post by Raverdave »

Well "Hero" Honda wants me to publish an update on India. There is little to say except it is a farking black hole for the RAF (and also the USAAF). I'm now using P-47s and they are just getting eaten alive.  My production is just keeping pace with the losses and the losses are such that I am not able to upgrade more squadrons. [:(]  The newer spit is due to arrive in next month (about 8 game days away) so with luck that might do better. [&:]

@ "Hero"...I am yet to see you shoot down a Hellcat or a Corsair.  Just watch what you say.....luck has a way of biting you on the arse.[:)]

Thanks Zond. I rest my case. I seems that a sibgle Oscar sentai has yet again managed to throw off an invasion. This time the Hellcats didn't help either. This was something like a week ago.

India theatre is hanling very nicely for me. I expected an air offensive much sooner, and now thatt it finally came, I'm not impressed. I have yet to feel the concentrated power of fighter and bomber force, but Raver's sweeps just didn't manage to break my CAP yet. Pilot quality is still a huge factor, a mine are top gun quality. In certain theatres I've had a whole year to prepare for the coming offensive and it shows. Raver has to risk either another crushing defeat, or delay his advance even furher. The first choice has obviously been discarded, although I still tend to belive I am able to score one more big victory. But, we'll cross that bridge when we reach it. First, we have to see what's Raver up to. I could swear that this engagement near over Sydney was a part of an aborted invasion. Even if it was a diversion, I can't see what purpose it should have served...

Bah ! Your post proves only two things:-

1/ You Croats stick together thicker than thieves and

2/ The power of the Oscar is a myth.....32 took off and only 4 came home.

Honda appears to have built a pretty solid empire there.  The Allies are slowly coming back, but it appears the massive losses in the first year of the war are hampering operations.

Not quite right....it is not my losses that are causing the problems....it is the lack of Honda's losses ![:(]

Bomb-bay

Post by Raverdave »

A huge all out attck against Bombay leads to mixed results.......a mixed force of 200 bombers and fighters targeted the airfields of Bombay but 70 aircraft were lost in the raid and while over 80 aircraft were destroyed half of those losses were on the ground.
Once again the P-40N Warhawk shows itself as being out-classed by the jap fighters with only 9 out of 35 AVG fighters making it home.

And on top of that there is the knowledge that Bombay is still open for business. A bitter pill to swallow.
