occasional crash Battleground Games

Post by Motomouse »

I am on the receiving end of occasional crashes (will try to report error messages next time). I am used to this nasty thing (less frequently) from the Campaign Series. But there is an important difference: While both Battleground and Campaign Games seem to catch the errors and open up a dialog window, I am only able to save my game after the crash and before shuting down in the Campaign Series Games. Perhaps its possible to implement an autosave when an error is catched or to allow the user to save the game before the forced shut down.

(P.S. As a work around i am saving often)

P.P.S One should mention there is already an autosave option after each phase

I used to get crashes and lock-ups with the Campaign Series. I solved it by turning off DirectDraw in DxDiag. The CS series and BG series doesn't need DirectX capabilities, mine runs fine without it. Give it a try. Just remember to turn it back on for other more graphic hungry titles.

start/Run

type dxdiag

click display tab

In DirectX features, click disable.

Remember to click enable to switch it back on.

Hope this helps.

display tab did not do the magic, but I turned sound acceleration off in dxdiag - no crash yet

Thanks again for the dxdiag advice
