What's the difference between Stock and Real Supply?

What's the difference between Stock and Real Supply in the supply stats of an HQ?

Stock does not mean how much supply you have at unit. With Headquarters I ams till not sure what the non () amount really means. My supreme Headquarters has a massive amount of subunits in one game ( all my naval fall under it for example) it always displays no stock yet has 40 to 50 thousand supply usually in it.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

Stock = Supply points above what the subformations in the HQ have in their own inventory.
 
Real supply = Total supply points in HQ.
