Are the unit icons moddable? Anyone make them?

Post by geozero »

Every screenshot I see has the same unit icon look, a soldier or a tank... is there or has anyone made a mod to change these to NATO style icons? Can these unit icons be moddable? Thanks

Can these unit icons be moddable?

Say Jmass,

why dont you put that set in a masterfile and upload it together with the graphics to the scenariobank too? (like RealMod)

i think it will be convenient for everybody if everything usefull will be together on one place :)

kind regards,
Vic

Vic,
If every modder making a unit pic mod creates a masterfile, and every modder making a terrain mod other masterfile, it'll be impossible to combine them AFAIK unless the player "mix" them himself... Not very convenient, not even counting if you want to use some modded "data" (eg I've made a new SFType that Id'l like to use without everytime reinputing it in all those masterfiles !)
May I suggest to implement an "alternative" graphic (only) mod system ? Something where you just define a variable/setting that points to the directory where the files are ? For example instead of "default" you put "MyGraphMod" and every reference to files will be searched here instead of "default"... This could require some work as currently the paths are explicitely typed when defining units/terrain, but I think it would make grpahics mods more usable.
