Here's some questions on the game

Post by pkpowers »

In HC 2003 ;

1. Aircraft use to continue on course path until you went back and set them to loiter, is this still the case?

2. Do aircraft flying very low crash as often or is the guidence system for low flying taken into consideration

3. Sometimes it was hard to select units that were very close to bases (unable to click on them-- the bases only were clickable) , does this still happen?

I'll think of more questions later, thanks

1. If you send them on longrange patrol they will loiter in the patrol area. Otherwise they will continue. I had a sub run aground becouse it sailed into a island well after its last way point.

2. They do. But its a feature Tony and CV32 said. It can be set in the DB what the chance is of crashing as to model low level flying without terrain following guidence etc.

3. havent come across it being hard to select units. You can zoom in quite far. Only thing in this regard is if units are attached to a formation such as an airfield they dont show up on the group display even if they are more then 200nm away from the airfield. This annoys me i admit becouse planes can sneak up on you easy.

iirc you can select units "on top" of each other by repeatedly clicking the mouse in the area.

Units which can fly low have the Laser Ranger and Marked Target Seeker flag set, this Flag is used to indicate a plane’s ability to safely VLOW altitude. VLOW altitude halves the range that a sensor will detect a target.

Planes without that flag will take casualties from pilot error from flying at wavetop/NOE height.

I would like that flag to show up on the display for each plane type.

I have been using the Space Bar/ Backspace keys to cycle through groups very close together once one of them is selected.  Or are you talking about the unit window?

In the Group or Unit window you can cycle thru closely grouped Groups/Units by clicking on the stack of Groups/Units as mack2 says. I added that after HC Gold (and I'm sad to say is some of the ugliest code in the whole game!). Using your mousewheel cycles thru Groups/Units as well (some mice will zip thru them too fast to be useful though).
