Loop in Game

Post by RayWolfe »

Found a problem where in a game in WF against the AI.
In the AI turn the program gets into a continuous loop when my units took OP fire at an AI unit without end ... no damage caused, no limit to ammo! Repeatable from the save. Had to kill the program with Task Manager and it has left my windows dialog boxes a nasty shade of brown. [:(]
Save game file attached. It is a zip file and I have changed the extension to txt to enable the upload.
Cheers

OK the Aussie infantry platoon at the zed-bend of the road moved one hex to it's present position. The German units in the adjacent hex (armoured cars, I think) then fired. The info box just reported "Infantry platoon" (no results). Then an AC from 3 or 4 hexes fired with the same non-results. Then the adjacent hex fired followed by the long range hex and so on ...
When I replayed the save game that I sent you it just started the same routine over again.
Thanks Jason

I will check when I get home tonight.

Is this with the 1.02B temporary patch? Has it just been that armoured car, or do other units do the same thing? Assuming you can tell, does the armoured car have the normal cost of attacking as other units?

The "B" has not been applied. It seemed to be just the ACs ... but it will be apparent to you if it replays like it did for me.

Can you add the B and see if it still happens?

Keep in mind, the B temporary patch does correct an existing firing loop. It would be nice to see if it corrects yours as well.

I also experienced this problem but so far I can only recall having it occur when German cavalry platoons, mounted at the time, take op fire at my units.

I had a German armored car next to an enemy unit (unspotted) and the enemy unit continously fired on the armored car. This was in a linked campaign.

I fixed my problem with Jason's suggestion that I review my patching and make sure I had the "b" patch.  Worked well.

I've been experiencing this bug as well, posted a message just now about it on the forum. And now I've found this topic dealing with what appears to be the same problem.

I hear talking about a "B" patch or something? I have downloaded the 1.02 patch, but where might I find out wether it's this "B" patch, and if not where could I find it?

EDIT:
Never mind.....found the 'Temprary 1.02B' patch just now. Downloading it as we speak and gonna go and install it according to the instructions.

Yes, I just noticed what the problem is.

I will incorporate it with 1.03 that is due out around Christmas.
