Hi,

Is there a way to check out terrain attributes while playing a scenario?

Thanks

You need to look in the subformation detail screen.

On the right-hand bottom side you'll see two charts and above that 'vs SFTypes', 'vs Class' and the movement type of the unit 'foot', 'tracked' etc. Click on the movement type and the top chart will list the autoentrench and max entrench values for the terrain type. The bottom chart will list any attack or defense modifiers for that movement type for each terrain type.
Based on the entrenchment values for your unit you can see which terrain is better for defense and if you know the makeup of the attacking force you can check units of those types to see any attack modifiers they will have for the terrain.

Hope that helps.

Good terrain for defense ??

High mountains
Low mountains
Heavy forrest
Urban hexes
fortifications

All good for defending. Rivers are also great to defend.

Hi Seille,

Thanks - I guessed that this type of terrain would be good for defending but I was interested in questions like:

Is defense in a city different from defense in a town?
Do ports give any advantage for the defender?
Do airstrikes suffer a penalty against swamps? Against hills?
etc
etc

So being able to look at statistics helps with these questions.

Thanks

Combat modifications are set by the land type, not the location type.  There are 10 land types in the standard master file (plains, sea, lt forest, hv forest, low mountains, high mountains, swamp, urban, fortress, fortification).  Combat and movement modifiers are determined by land types.  You are asking about location types (e.g., ports, villages, cities).  The combat modifiers are set by the land (village and cities are urban).  Ports are plains.  So, defense in towns and cities is the same.  However, you can change all this by making different land types. If you dig into the editor, you will see that the combat modifiers can apply to both attacker and defender.  In the standard masterfile, all modifiers are for attackers.

Here are the dive bomber attack modifiers. (to answer your last question). They are also moddable if you do not like them.
