Supply problem?

Post by SMK-at-work »

I've occasionally had units that seem to refuse to request supply - even when their HQ is overflowing and has moved right on top of them.

I didn't think to get a screen shot tonight but I will do so if it happens again.....

no, I had this problem too, especially if there are a lot of units under a hq (10+) I tried to solve it by creating a new unit amd move all the subformations. It works sometimes

Well...Now I know why some of my starting units in European diplomacy were not receiving supplies. I looked at the pics in the AAR, and in I think the first one I posted the unit is set to 0% supply.
Wonder if Tom knows about that?

Seille I'll check for that if it happens again thanks.

Edit: Yep - supply had been set to 0% - not something I'd done AFAIK as I had never used that function before.

Then this is probably a bad setup in scenario design.
New created units usually have 100% here.

Any idea what causes it? I've been building a scenario and after I saw this thread, checked some of my units in dry runs and they also show this. I did do the set Loc, SFtypes ready thing on the setting screen. Would this have to do with the amount of supply available?

I had just assumed it had to with amount of available supply being too low.

Did you attach the units to a HQ ? Had the HQ enough supply stored to feed the attached units ?
Had the units self supply reserves ? This i would check first.
Or do you units show the 0% supply like on my screen above ?

I went back into and checked. Units placed on-map at start of scen are all set to 0. Units entering map as reenforcements via event are set at 100%. I created another at start unit and set Locs SFTypes and it started with this set to 100. I'm guessing I did something at in the creation of my first few units that caused this to be zeroed. I went into editor and manually set them and now they are fine. I"ll just have to watch in future.

Thanks!

In my case the unit that I was able to check was the garrison of Sevastopol in the Rusia 1942 scenario - it had been getting supply prior to the problem from the Caucasus HQ as I recall it being interdicted at least once.  It was early 9143 before I spotted it via Seille's suggestion.
