Installing HCE

Post by jb1144 »

I installed HCE on my computer under vista 32 operating system. The game installed correctly, but I can't get the scenario editor to work. I am receving the following message. NTVDM.EXE stopped working. Any suggestions?

Looks like we've got a couple of these now.

What screen resolution are you running?

How much RAM does your computer have?

At what point does the error occur?  Do you see the HCE logo, no window at all, etc.

Easy thing to try but probably won't help.

restarting the computer, then run http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=228 then try running the scenario editor

At startup from the HCE start screen, 1023MB RAM, resoluton set at 1280 X 1040, using a
Raedon X700 card. The cpu is a 2.8 GHz Pentium D, with 600MB of free space on the hard drive. The game itself works fine, I'm only having problems with the scenerio editor

Just for the sake of trouble shooting mate can you try this and report back whether it works or not?

- Click Start > Run
- In the Run box type the following: %systemroot%\system32\sysedit.exe
- If the 16bit system configuration window appears and loads correctly without errors than everything is ok with NTVDM and WOW

This is to test if your 16bit subsytem is working correctly and that the NTVDM and WOW files are running properly on your system.. just to rule out an underlying problem with the operating system [:)]

Thanks, rebooting the computer cleared up the problem. Everything is working correctly.
