Installing User-made Scenarios

This new Commander's Edition of Harpoon Classic includes land units, neutral and unknown sides, an improved radar and area ECM model and a host of other improvements. Rounding that out are over 200 scenarios and the WestPac Battleset. Try out this great new version of the classic Harpoon!

Installing User-made Scenarios

Post by bssybeep »

ok....I downloaded a ton of scenarios at HarpGamer but none of them contain a "readme". Searched through this forum and I know I probably just missed it, but where do I install all these great user-made scenarios and is there anything special I need to do to play them with HCE?

thanks in advance

The easiest way: Unpack those scens in the HCE folder, that´s it. OK you need the right commondb.res file (the databasefile ) too.

I would recomend that you create a subfolder "scenarios" makes the searching a lot easier.

so a little hotwo:

1. download the scens and the dbfile
2. unpack the right db fileinto the HCE main folder
3. Start the game
4. selecet the battleset (most Scens are written for the EC2003 or Westpac!)
5. hit "User Senarios" in the Scenario selection menue
6. start the desiered Scen

Is the commondb.res file different for every db?  Will it overwrite any current ones?

Yes it is different, because the commondb.res file is the database for the EC2003, Westpac und for future usermade Battlesets.

So it is a smart idea to save the commondb.rs ad .rsr shipped with the game for future use.

The version of the database that shipped with the game is also stored in commondb.bak (a copy of it was put there by the installer) and can quickly be restored (if ever needed) by running the rest_cdb.bat file in the HC directory.
