Opponents for the Great War scenario

Post by marcusm »

I bought Advanced Tactics today. Mainly due to this scenario.
I plan on using the new map graphics and NATO symbols.

In order to generate interest in this game, I created another thread in a fairly popular gaming forum. I thought a public AAR would help generate more interest in this game.

http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=57689

Feel free to check this out and contact me if you are interested. I can probably do one turn a day, more on weekends.

Btw. I noticed that another Great War scenario had started, hopefully there are room for one more :). Thanks in advance.

Great. I hope to get at least one more from that other forum.

Best would be to fill up all spots to enable the cards but since this is my very first game I 'll play anything.

Obviously I am going to suck at this :). I like to learn the hard way.

I thought about starting this up today.

It seems we managed to get 4 players for this one.

Suggested nation choice:

TomBombadil = Entete
TPM = Allies
Marcus = Russia
Canuck = Italy

We are currently playing a 4-player Great War where the Allies are slowly grinding down Germany and Austria but it's a lot of fun. I would suggest based on our experience that you use the following nation choices:

1) Germany
2) Austria/Ottoman
3) Russia/Serbia
4) West/Italy

So one player can play more than one nation? That makes it more interesting.
Rick, it still isn't full so you are free to join. You mind doing Austria?

5 players makes odd number so somoene gets to play 2 countries.

Problem is with Italy, they enter the War at april 1915 ... so first XX turns will not only Italy player play !!!So like wrote jjdenver ... best way is:GermanyAustria-HungaryTurkey (alone or with A-H) ... so one player will play bothWest AlliesRussia + Serbia
Excuse my English ... I hope is better then Your Czech ... 8-)

I can do Austria if you'd like, whatever is available.

What will happen if I don't have the Nato symbol set loaded? Or perhaps I can make a second install of game. I think I can work that out by switching .

Which Nato symbol set are we using? Direct link would be good if you know where it is.

Thanks
Rick

The NATO symbols are client only I think but the master file might be a different matter.
Still dont know if all players uses the same master file.

Wel, lets try and see what happens. The NATO symbols I used for screens are basically the first ones posted.
The second set I saw were pehaps better. I think I will use the default counters this time through due to some issues with ships.

Hi Guys,

Symbols are local to your machine. Everyone can use different ones.

Only the first person's first turn uses the master file. Then it's not needed for the rest of the game.

But if the master file uses the graphic mod, does it need to be installed on everyones machine?

I can confirm that it asks for the graphics set (i tried loading a pbem on my laptop without the mod).

It allows you to continue anyway though.

No no no! Sorry. I'm already not making my wife unhappy with the number of games I'm in! Maybe next time....[8D]

Ok I am sending out first turn tonight.

First turn goes to TomBombadil, then Rick, after that, Rick again (for the Ottomans). TPM for West, Me playing Russia and Serbia. Finally Canuck for Italy (he needs time anyway to train).

Is this a good setup for everyone? Tom might need some time for his first turn given his new player status. I bet Germany is hard to play :).

Btw. I plan to create an AAR for my part.

Fine with me - I thought there was someone else doing Ottoman though? No problem - just dont want to hog all the fun.

I suppose I should download this scenario and take a look at it though.

Good luck all!

Actually there might, just got another applicant ;).
Best part, we get to use the action cards.

Btw. I plan to make this an AAR for my part. If anyone else makes I wont read them until
later.
