Question about 60nm vs 40 nm for the AE Team

Post by hueglin »

I was wondering if any thought had been given to have a dual boot system for AE so that it could be played in either the 60nm or the 40 nm format. The 40 nm format would have all the map improvements (and all the other improvements) but the 60nm version would have only the non-map improvements (e.g. extra slots, removal of hard-coding, combat routines).

My thought is that there are lots of mods already in the 60nm format that people might be reluctant to give up. It might make the transition easier for some/many.

It may just be more trouble than its worth, and maybe I'm totally off the wall on this, but I find one of the strengths of this forum is that no idea is rejected out of hand as 'too crazy'. So here's another crazy idea for the AE team to think about.

My feelings will not be hurt if this idea is completely shot down.[:)]

Just FYI, please ask questions in the dedicated threads in the Scenario Editing forum.

As for your question, that's not possible. You could always have separate WitP and WitP-AE installations, I suppose...[;)]

Not to mention that the folks who made the mods you mention, most of them are on the team for AE looks like.[8D]

Just FYI, AE will not overwrite your WITP installation. Once you have AE, you will be able to play original WITP as well as AE - they are installed in separate folders.

That is good to know. I have three PBEM games going and at this time we intend to continue them.
