Graphics Editing

I am interested in making scenarios but have a problem. When I go into the editor I have no options to select items in certain screens. Specifically, the SFTypes, Units and LocTypes screens. The grey buttons are not displayed. I have tried this with the Scenario Creator, Random Scenario and scenarios that are in the scenarios folder. I think it may be a problem with a setting somewhere because the buttons are available when I open the editor with the Tolkienesque scenerio that I downloaded.

if you disconnect the masterfile all options will be available.
 
go to the settings submenu -> click masterfile -> select cancel.
