Player Controlled RR infrastructure in RHS Level 7

Post by el cid again »

There is a new pwhex file in Level 7: RAILROADpwhex7.dat

A similar file could exist in Levels 5 and 6 if anyone wants them: I have recorded the changes.

IF you rename this file pwhex.dat AND put it in the top level WITP folder
you will get:

a) The Bengal & Assam RR upgraded

b) The Burma - Siam RR built

c) The Whitehorse & Yukon RR upgraded

d) A rail line on New Caledonia (name unknown)

This should be done on 17 October 1943 in a strictly historical game. That is the date the Burma-Siam line drive the two golden spikes at the meeting point (one by each RR Engineer Regiment commander).

The RR engineers on both sides are missing from the game. So is a good deal of shipping. Mainly due to the need to ship about twice as much resources as the game can consume, the ships can carry supplies for the absent RR building on the reverse runs. So there is no special rule for how you get the rail lines - unless you want one.

The date could be shifted - but 1943 is the year all these lines achieved significant capacity - so it should not shift very much.

As always: power to the players.

Note: Once you put this file in play, do NOT use the PANAMA pwhex file. I assume Japan won't take out Panama City more than 90% after this date. If that ever happens, I can make a Panama variation of the RAILROAD pwhex file in about 90 seconds - and I will.

FYI

Actually - the file set INCLUDES an ALREADY named pwhex.dat file which will work in all games before 17 October 1943.
Just copy that pwhex file to the top level WITP folder.

Keep all the files somewhere safe. I put them all in the top level WITP folder and also in a sub folder of the SCEN folder.

You ONLY rename a file IF you want something special:

a) You MIGHT rename PANAMApwhex7.dat = pwhex.dat IF Panama City has MORE than 90% port damage;

b) You MIGHT rename RAILROADpwhex7.dat = pwhex.dat on 17 October 1943 - or some other date - IF you want to - up to you.

c) IF you did (a) above AND IF Panama City has LESS than 10% port damage thereafter, you SHOULD rename STANDARDpwhex7.dat = pwhex.dat

(A) above will damage the Panama Canal AND reduce the rail lines to trail status in the Panama City hex

(B) above will give you the four railroad upgrades listed at the start of the thread.

(C) above will restore the Panama Canal and the rail line at Panama City. When the Canal is out, ships may not pass between Colon and Panama City - either way. When the RR is out - traffic FROM Panama City in ALL directions is reduced to a snail's pace.
