Completely OT: The Led Zeppelin Reunion Show Setlist

Post by KG Erwin »

Some of you may have heard of this band. [;)] They reformed for a show at the London O2 tonight, with John Bonham's son, Jason, playing drums. The event was a tribute show for the late Ahmet Ertegun, the former CEO of Atlantic Records. Here's the setlist:

1. Good Times Bad Times
2. Ramble On
3. Black Dog
4. In My Time of Dying
5. For Your Life (never performed live by the original band)
6. Trampled Underfoot
7. Nobody's Fault But Mine
8. No Quarter
9. Since I've Been Loving You
10. Dazed & Confused
11. Stairway To Heaven
12. The Song Remains The Same
13. Misty Mountain Hop
14. Kashmir
Encore:
15. Whole Lotta Love
16. Rock and Roll

Yeah, this is totally off-topic, BUT, a few Matrix forumers are musicians, and I grew up with this band as a teenager in the 70s. There may or may not be a tour following, but I hope this performance will be released on DVD. We'll see.

I imagine they will play rings around the majority of the new bands out there. I was amazed at how good Cream sounded at the Albert Hall concerts in '05, but then I shouldn't have been -- they had 37 years to practice! And Jason B. seems to be a worthy successor to his father. It's interesting that Led Zep, Cream, the Who and the Jimi Hendrix Experience were -- instrumentally -- trios, and I mean no offense to Roger or Robert. Their voices were instruments as well, but you know what I mean.

Cool - if you're a musician/guitarist - check out this link to the PBS' Crossroads show -great show. It may still be playing your neck of the woods.

I saw them in concert in the 70's.

From what I remember, they were great! [;)]

Somehow I knew they would leave out their best song: Over the Hills and Far Away.

I saw them in what was the largest stadium concert in history at the time in Tampa Stadium in 1973.

Saw them in Germany (Ortenauhalle Offenberg) on March 24, 1973.  I still have the ticket in a frame...cost me 12 DM (about $5 American in '73).  Remember that I couldn't hear for days after the concert.

KG,

Thanks for the clip, but damn! Bonzo's kid looks as old as the rest. JPJ aged well, though. I remember having to choose between Led Zep and the Carpenters (albums) -- the latter being the strongly advised choice for me by my parents. I rebelled. I played "Physical Graffiti" until it skipped and the vinyl warped too much.

You know, what kid today would know how to change a phonograph needle? [:(]

And remember the days when you could actually go to a concert for just a few week's allowance, or to a baseball game for as much? The beer alone costs me a week's pay, now.[&:]

That would be an instant buy for me also.......I also grew up idolizing them............was really jealous of my cousin who got to see them on their first US tour in Houston in 1969......[:@].........got to see them finally in 1975 in New Orleans at the Superdome.............ah the days of my youth............drugs, sex ,rock & roll & RISK marathons (with a little college thrown in on the side...........[;)]).

PS.......would highly rec. the new CD out Mothership.............the best of the best...........nothing like a little Led for the head[:D]!

A final note on this show: a host of vids/mp3s are already available, but the Warner Music group is busily getting the vids yanked from YouTube.

This action tells me that the band WILL release this show on DVD. I, for one, will buy it the first day it goes on sale. In the meantime, I'm forced to settle for a hodgepodge of good to fair-quality audience vids.

Now, for the record, I will post NO links to unauthorized/bootleg material on this site. That's a definite no-no.

If Erik or another admin wants to close this thread, please do so. Plenty of info can be found on the band's official site & forums : http://ledzeppelin.com/

Haha, a true child of the 70"s i love it... "From what I remember" [:D] You know what they say: if you remember the 70's you didn't live the 70's.

Definately getting the dvd is it come out. But, I'm kinda curious how a duet with Plant and Allison Krauss will turn out[X(]

Well, the Plant/Krauss disc is out already. I caught a bit of it in a Starbucks the other day...seemed fairly decent, actually. And it's met with pretty solid reviews.

I say Robert Plant play a festival a couple of years ago and they played some of his solo stuff.

But the finish to the show was Gallows Pole and Whole Lotta Love and even though it wasnt the full Led Zep it was the business !!!!

Well, rumors of a reunion tour appear to have vanished, since it was announced today that Plant and Krauss will be touring the States, starting in May.

I really like the band.I know I may get your hair to stand up on end but I think Led Zepplin is a better band then the Rolling Stones. Just my personal choice.

I would have a hard time choosing between those 2, to be honest. They, along with James Brown, the Clash, and Parliament/Funkadelic are pretty much in a 5 way tie. [:D]
