New game in the pipeline?

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

New game in the pipeline?

Post by Spechtmeise »

Capn Darwin,

you mentioned a new game:
We are currenlty working on the next version of the game with a new engine and keeping it very mod friendly. In the new game almost every aspect of the game can be changed by the player. You can make new maps, scenarios, campaigns, and add/modify units, formation, and weapons to list a few things. Even sounds and graphics in some areas can be created or modified.
Could you reveal some more specific info on what we can expect from this new engine?

Thanks
Thomas

Thomas,

Rob is busy working with code and bug squashing. He is working to knock a few items out on the map editor so we can get maps going (we have a couple fine gent's doing artwork for the terrain). I'm working through what appears to be a million units and weapons to get the data file in final form. That is slow going and my time to work on it has been knocked around with the real world. The goal is to have data files up and running by months end, sooner if I can swing it so we can get a beta out to our testers. From there we will be working scenarios, maps, editors and general code cleaning and tweaking. As soon as we get the beta up I'm sure we will get a new forum up and also post new info and pictures.

Jomni,

We are not setting any dates right now for a couple of reasons. One, they always slip. This get folks are worked up and it is not worth the forum traffic. Two, we are a two man, free time (both have day jobs with some heavy hours right now/families) so trying to pin down how long is tough. What I can say is that Rob has a vast majority of the code is written and awaiting the new database info from me. Getting all of the information and format cleaned up has proven to be a bigger bear then I had thought and is the primary source of delay right now. We are also getting art support from Matrix in terms of items for the game dialogs and maps and we still have some items coming in from there. Once the data is ready we will be testing with group of beta testers and working on maps and scenarios for the games. If folks are looking for a holiday release that is not the plan. As we get more done and a bit closer to release, Matrix will annouce it and get a new forum going.

We thank folks for their interest and we know you will like the finished products.
