Physical Version Temporarily Out of Stock

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi everyone,

Due to unexpectedly high holiday sales, we have run out of GOA boxed copies. This would normally be a brief interruption, but based on feedback here we were in the process of reorganizing and re-editing the manual. We've decided to complete that process before re-printing as we would not make Christmas with the new stock in either case. This means the earliest we'll have new copies in stock for the physical version (download is of course unaffected) is February, 2008.

If you are waiting for a boxed copy that is currently back-ordered, I realize this is unwelcome news especially at this time of year. We thought we had enough stock to make it well into January, but obviously we were wrong. If you ordered the digital+physical version, you can still download and play right away. If you ordered physical only and want to change your order, you can contact us at support@matrixgames.com.

The silver lining is that the new boxed copies once they do ship, will come with an updated manual. We will also make a PDF version of the update manual available to all customers via the Members Club.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Regards,

- Erik

Bad news with good flavor... or vice versa :)

Glad that GOA selling good, probably the best title I bought from matrix this year..

Your marketing department needs to speak firmly to production. I have been waiting patiently(more or less) for three titles from Matrix, only to be told they are back-ordered. I have another couple titles I would have liked  to have before Christmas, but enough is enough until your shipping department gets its act together.

Shawkhan,

Which other titles are you waiting on? As far as I know, virtually everything else is either already shipping or shipping this week. GOA got caught in between a rock and a hard place. We had severe printer issues that required us to switch printers right during what for us is the start of the holiday season. We also had to change warehouse procedures at the same time. This resulted in the rapid decrease of GOA stock being missed. That combined with the update of the GOA manual to change what should have been "just in time" to "too late".

You can still order the digital + physical version, which lets you download right now to play and then the physical version will arrive as soon as it's ready.

I have previously ordered CEAW and the John Tiller Battleground series for ACW and Napoleonic Battles. Since I wanted to give them as presents at a Christmas party I am holding on the 15th, it looks like I will be looking for alternative gifts for my wargaming friends. Guess I will just have to keep them for myself.

Shawkhan,

If you ordered them all as one order, then I'm guessing one is holding up the other as CEAW is certainly in stock and has been shipping out for months. The Battleground series manuals just got to our warehouse today and are now shipping out. We've had a back-order notice on those since the physical versions appeared, which stated that we expected them to ship out around the 14th so we were very up front about that and in fact they are shipping out a day earlier than planned.

Guns of August is certainly worth waitng for; it is simply the best WWI SIMULATION I have ever seen. It is also a wonderfully playable GAME as well.

Hey, Erik:

Any word on whether we beta testers will be receiving physical copies of GOA?
