W O W !!!! What an attack! 23:1 is something I wouldn´t have expected at all. At best I thought about a 3:1 that would knock down 2 fort levels if everything works out fine. But 23:1?? I was really impressed! While we had nearly our max assault value the Chinese av was completely wrecked. 140.000 Chinese are POW now. Our troops need 2 months rest to be 100% combat ready again, so we will then move to our next target further in the South. The Allied lost around 800 points for ground losses, we lost around 50 with all the attacks on Sian. 110.000 Chinese are sitting on the road 3 hexes West of Sian. Wooden hex but 2000+ av will attack them there next turn, we hope the Chinese are low on supply.

I expect the forts already being 7 or 8 if not 9... around 110.000 troops are spotted at Changsha with another 200.000 in the bases South West of it... the biggest problem will be the fact that the troops at Changsha get 600 supply points a day so cutting them off won´t help at all...

RE: WITP in the Alps! Swift (A) vs. Castor Troy (J)
u are lucky, once one 12.7mm bullet from those sob pt give my destroyer a sys of 50+, she nearly sank, another time one single 3 inch or 4 inch shell kill one my destoyer, no magazine explode. This game has serious problem by dealing with naval combat damage when some surface engagement draws too long. Allies have no such problem, because their so-called damage control prevent a damage from propagating, no matter how long a surface action draws and how many actions a ship fights per day.
For this I despise any allies exclusive guy. They are basically coward, who dares not to fight an fair war, and could only hide behind those stupid advantages the game grants to them (allies side). It's extremely disgusting when some of those even claim they have equal skills with Jap players and find many reasons to prove they fight a "fair war" and propoganda they acutally are the victims of certain game rules...[:@]

I never liked fighting PTs and while others never (or mostly not) have problems with PTs, I often take severe damage, making it not worth attacking those pesky little buggers. But as I´ve ordered a BB bombardment of Noumea I just have to take out the PTs before sending in my battlewaggons as a lucky shot could also cripple one of my BBs (I don´t even want to think about a mag explosion on a BB).
The game has it´s problems with advantages or disadvantages on both sides. Just think about the number of all time torpedoe carrying Nells/Betties that I´ve got on the map or how far I have already expanded my little Empire. I´m marching on Noumea that is held by 25.000 Allied troops and I doubt they will be able to really hurt me with the 1500 assault points I have brought in. After I have taken New Caledonia there´s only Hawai and New Zealand left in the Pacific that isn´t occupied by Japan, so if we compare that to history (or better say what was POSSIBLE in real life) then I have to say it´s not just all about giving the Allied all advantages! [;)]
When Noumea is Japanese, Swift will have a score of about 2500 points with me having 16.000+ points. While we don´t play for points it seems REALLY hard for him to avoid a Japanese auto victory on 1/43 as it will be probable more like 5:1 than 4:1 in my favour! [:D] And I wasn´t even going for points, all I´m doing is using my undamaged troops (which means all of them as I haven´t taken any serious damage so far) to conquer more and more territory. I´m facing the same problem like Swift in my game vs. Panzerjaeger Hortlund where I´m playing the Allied. The only difference is that I was able to sink 3 times the number of ships (mostly with my subs - that Swift didn´t have due to my Manila port attack on turn one) and I was able to inflict far more damage to the Japanese ground forces. But that wasn´t my achievement either, it was just because my opponent attacked to many targets at once with insufficient forces. And still I will probably lose in 1/43 because my opponent will have occupied all those super high value bases like Singapore, Manila and the most important base is Noumea. Without Noumea it would be hard for him to achieve an auto victory but he took it already in Dec or Jan against 0 opposition.
While I´m thinking I´m doing a good job, I will still lose (auto victory) as Allied. I´m doing better in this game as the Japanese and it seems it´s no problem at all to achieve an auto victory so I don´t really know where the real advantages are in the first 2 years of the war if you know what I mean...

Just let your fighters strafe those little troubles, if sync problem comes and allies cannot get accurate combat report, that is what he deserved.[:D]

[:D] Well, sending in Zeroes to strafe them is the same as sending in DDs. They put up a lot of AA and losing a couple of KB Zero pilots isn´t worth it either... and Swift is a very honourable opponent so I don´t like to have the synch bug...

Once again I wasn´t able to move all my units at once into the hex and when Swift saw only 3 units being in the hex he ordered his shock attack. 2 more divisions and support entered the hex this turn and the Chinese attack is shredded. So I don´t know if I´m lucky that there isn´t a working "follow unit order" anymore... This time it was an advantage for me, most times you suffer from it. But hey, no problem, we still have a super working ground combat routine...[;)]

I can´t explain what Swift is doing here. He´s really serious about shredding the 100.000 men he has in this wooden hex a couple of hexes South West of Sian. He failed with his shock attack last turn against fewer of my units and even if he must expect that more enter the hex this turn he orders again a shock attack??? First he completely abandons the North of China, so I got all for free, now he´s killing his troops for nothing, making it easy for me to further advance. When I never have my troops seriously damaged, why should I stop marching forward when I´m not even producing enough ressources for my heavy industry due to the 100% ressource damage at EVERY British base I took... I just have to conquer more ressource sites as I have already halted parts of my industry (merchant SY) due to lack of ressources or HI...

Our shock attack was succesful and New Caledonia was taken without bigger problems. Nothing Swift could do IMO. Even if he had brought 2 divs, I would just wait 6 weeks and another 4 divs of mine would be in the area. The more he would bring, the more he would lose. New Caledonia is a death trap.
But amazingly, he had the AUS I corps HQ and the South West Pacific HQ there... wonder why... also a Aus bgd, a USN base force, a RAN base force and a US fielt art rgt surrendered...

seeing this attack I´m once again really concerned. Concerned because I had already a PBEM with an earlier Nikmod version being stopped because cap wasn´t existing and every Allied invasion later on was clobbered by 100+ bomber strikes. 96 fighters at Koepang are set to 90% cap 10.000 ft and all we manage to do is taking down 3 bombers... here they come again... most of the bombers failed to locate the TF so only a part of the planned strike went in. We saw more fighters in the air, 50% of the total number of fighters at an airfield is the max a Japanese commander can expect if he sets his daitais to 90% cap... [8|] The escorts suffer again but the bombers aren´t impressed by our baby guns aboard our paper aircraft... We could also throw beans at the enemy... Unfortunately the 7.7mm MG´s of the Zeroes only have a penetration value of 1 so this means they can´t damage ANY of the Allied aircraft that are already now coming off the lines... [8|] That´s at least strange as now we are stuck with the Zero until 9/43 and 50% of it´s armament can´t penetrate any of the enemy aircraft´s armor it has to face in the next 15 months...

here they come again... most of the bombers failed to locate the TF so only a part of the planned strike went in. [8|] That´s at least strange as now we are stuck with the Zero until 9/43 and 50% of it´s armament can´t penetrate any of the enemy aircraft´s armor it has to face in the next 15 months...

a 45:1 wasn´t expected at all. Just look at the Allied adjusted assault value! Looks like the air attacks for months have really paid off... The Allied units retreated to Bataan...
