Adding a seperate Artillery counter to the game?

Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

Adding a seperate Artillery counter to the game?

Post by MartNick »

Is this possible? To have a seperate counter for the French and Russian artillery and not using the infantry counter. Would make it easier to see on the map.

I have created some artwork already, and for those with FOW concerns by adding the Infantry picture over the top solves that problem too.

Marshall any chance?

Yes, but then you lose FoW.

How do you add an infantry on top to maintain FOW??? Explain that for me please???

I'm a little hesitant to do that since the original game ONLY inf and dedicated cav corps were different. We had different counters in the past based on the corps types and the testors didn't like it because it gave away the identity too much???

Thank you

Agreed, this game is based on FoW.  Let's not lose that.

Surely the artillery unit is always going to be with one of the biggest stack of counters on the map, highly unlikely that it will be running around on it's own. Same with the guard, it's usually going to be with Napoleon or Alexander etc. So FOW is quite limited anyway.

Well, if you make it known which corps is the artilley corps, it pretty much guarantees it has to be with the biggest stack. That removes a strategic element of the game. I am firmly against it.

That was the concern of the testers. You catch an artillery corps alone and you just lost 10-12 VERY EXPENSIVE factors. Making its identity public ruffled a lot of old EiA feathers.

BTW: The art looks great!

Can the counters be made wider or taller to make the original counter of the boardgame for example?

well obviously what he means is that when he's looking at his screen, he sees a nice 12pdr on his counter, but when anyone else looks at it on their screen, they just see mr generic marching down the pike.

hello computer age?
