Regime-specific units in a random map

Post by T_K »

So I prefer to play on random maps and so I'd like my modding to be fully random-map compatible. So far the only way to make regime-specific units work in a random map is to make all units available to universals but only the research to be regime-specific. Thus you can build your units from any town on the map but only you can build them since only you have the required research.

Any other ideas?

Hi TK,

If would make an event in round 0 that sets regimevars for all regimes in play and then make itemtypes that are only produceable if regime has right regimevar.

that should do the trick.

kind regards,
vic

That's a good idea. Although I'm going to keep with the research method cause I want specific research anyway. The only bugger is that I can still see in my "not yet available" column research that costs -1p like I said in the wish list :)

Btw, I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but I found out that the Who must own? setting in itemtype actually does decide who can build the item. The explanation what it does is unclear so I thought it was something else.
