Spence vs. Gary: Jap Strategy thread - No Spences Allowed

Post by GaryChildress »

It's been a while since I played a game so I thought I would start an AAR in which I may get some advice, especially on Jap industry and such.

I'm playing the bad guys and Spence is playing the good guys.

Dec 7th Surprise: ON
Reinforcements: Both Variable by 15 days
Auto Sub Ops: OFF
Facilities to expand: OFF
Auto Air Upgrades: OFF
Accept Replacements: OFF

Turn Cycle: 1 day increments

Thanks. [:)]

Woops, forgot....

CHS Scenario 155.

Thanks Martin.

I'm hoping to employ much the same tactics in DEI which I used against you, capturing Kuching, Kota Bharu, and Kendari early, placing Bettys and Nells on them and effectively sealing off every safe passage in or out of DEI.

OH yes, and this time I'm planning on deploying at least 4 divisions and 1 brigade in the PI. [:D]

Spence vs Gary: Turn 1 - Possible Redo

Post by GaryChildress »

Wow! Turn 1 was eventful to say the least! [X(]

I had notified Spence that I was going to invade Johnston Island and that there was a possibility that KB might be in the area to support the landings. However, I gave him the guarantee that KB would not cross any hex east of Johnston's lattitude including the PH vicinity, giving his carriers guaranteed safe passage if he chose to take it. He agreed to the conditions. KB followed on the heels of the Johnston Invasion, although not crossing east of Johnston's lattitude. He chose to try to stop the Johnston landings. Enterprise and Lexington are now both toast!

I've e-mailed him back, giving him the opportunity to redo the moves of Lexington and Enterprise alone if he wants to. Maybe he misunderstood me or something. [&:]

One of our house rules was that KB could not hunt down the US carriers to start with. Hence the reason I alerted him to the Johnston Island invasion to begin with. I didn't want him to think I was trying to get his carriers and therefore gave him the opportunity not to have his carriers in the area. I went for Johnston on turn 1 because I want to completely cut off his ability to set up forward patrol bases. I also took Palmyra Atoll on turn 1 as well. Hopefully Wake will fall next turn. Without those bases he's pretty much blind everywhere west of PH.

Oh well. It's a redo. There was a mix up in signals. Enterprise and Lexington will be spared.
