Can You Create Fortresses?

Post by kc_chiefs »

I am still goofing around with the game a bit. As France I allowed England to slip in and siege the capital and destroy the fort that I had placed in Paris. Can I rebuild this fort and how do I do this?

There's no "fort" in Paris. The roll represents a siege. The thing that looks like a fort is the garrison you placed there. They are Infantry or Militia factors.

So the answer is yes you can "rebuild the fort" but it really means you're adding more factors to the garrison of the city.

The city capacity is 5* the spires it has. For every fletch it takes -1 (making it harder to breach)from the roll to breach the city. If it is garrisoned to within 5 factors of the capacity it will not be considered to be undergarrisoned. Which is a +1(making it easier to breach)

Some cities actually have pre-built forts though, right?

There are small icons in the lower left corner beside each city that seem to show them. If you click on them a window opens that shows the fortifications. Is this the same as the garrison?

If not, can I build or upgrade these?

No they are the "fletches" they abstractly represent fortifications natural and man made. For each fletch -1 is subtracted from the siege roll. You can't upgrade those. No it isn't the same as the garrisons. The garrisons represent soldiers at an organizational level less than the Corps.

A three fletched city with full garrison cannot be taken...unless garrison is starved down below being full, then a 6 will do it.  A full garrison is a garrison within 5 factors of being fully filled (5 in a two tower city, 15 in a four tower city, etc).

fletches look like huts outside the city and spires look like spires. And I thought it was 6 in a 2 spre, 16 in a 4 tower, etc.

Hmm, I'd have to read that Murat.  You may be right.
