Purpose of LCU suffix

Post by hueglin »

I am wondering if the LCU suffix that is used to add the term Brigade, Division, Corps, etc. has any function other than cosmetic. I see that it can be set to 'none', which is what I would like to do so that I can use formation names that are in French, German etc.

Does anyone know if the AI uses the suffix to determine how the unit behaves?

Yes. It relates to the commander selected. No suffex dooms the unit to be a minor one, getting a junior commander.
The suffex is like air unit size - it matters for game functions. A brigade may divide into two parts. A division may divide into three parts. No other thing may divide at all- not even a corps. What size a unit is defined as is used in several places - and we probably do not know all of them.

Thanks Sid. I guess I will have to reevaluate my original idea of not using the suffixes.
