BETA Testing: 2x2 team game - CLOSED

Post by GaryChildress »

I dug up the old mod I was working on and finished it.

If anyone is interested in beta testing it with me I would be delighted. Perhaps 1 on 1 or a team game depending upon how many are interested. It should serve as a decent pass time until the AE expansion comes out in the summer. Perhaps when AE comes out I'll adapt this mod to it as well, depending upon how well it plays now or how much interest there is in it.

Anyway, the mod is an Alternative History scenario based upon CHS. For more information on the scenario and to download it please visit here:

Sincerest thanks for any interest. [:)]

Sure, why not. I have been looking for an alternate history game until AE comes along.

Happy for either side, really looking to have some fun and an enjoyable game.

Gary,

I just read up on your Mod.  I REALLY like the ideas behind it.  It is pretty plausible historically and the sounds like it would be a lot of fun to play!

Thanks John 3rd! If you're interested maybe we can get a team game going. Either that or I could do two test games, maybe one as Japanese and one as Allied to get a better feel of how balanced it is or isn't. [:)]

I am happy to be either side.  While I wait for you to work out what is happening I will start to set up a Japan turn 1.

Thanks Gary.

If I have a game drop off, I will contact you and we can give it a try.  If you are busy then perhaps I can locate a competitor to test it with...

Hi Nomad! Definitely! It would be great to have you on board! If you're up for it, a team game would probably be the best way to test, more eyes to catch any mistakes. It looks like Darken92 is going to be Japanese. I'll be Allies. So there's an opening on either side. [:)]

Can't I play in the middle? Why do I have to take sides? [:D]

Let's see if someone else wants to play and we can do a 2x2 game.

I wouldnt mind giving this a try. I have not played in a long while but if the other player is patient with me I would give this game my full effort[&o]

Trying to do a second install now to get this running

Great! You're onboard Miller41!

So far I think we have Darken92 as Japanese. That leaves you and Nomad to pick sides. I'll take a side last to round out the lineup.

Darken92 is currently working on a first turn for Japanese (I think, haven't heard from him in a day or so). So possibly the other Japanese player will have to pick up where Darken92 leaves him.

Also, lets all get e-mail addresses. As posted above mine is grchildress(at)earthlink(dot)net.

Thanks. [:)]

well if i have a choice I would prefer the allies, as the planning would be a tad easier from that side for me just getting back in the game. I have the mod loaded and it seems to run fine. I have never played 2x2 so let me know anything you think i need to know as far as doing the turns go. Also i work swing shift and am on east coast (georgia)[:D]

OK. 1 Allied and 1 Japanese so far. We'll wait for Nomad to chime in and select which side he wants to play.

I'm in Florida. I think Nomad is in Colorado IIRC. I've been in a couple team games with Nomad before.

I'm not sure where Darken92 is.

Basically, from the team games I have played, the best method seems to be a "shotgun" method of distributing the turn. Last Japanese player sends the finished turn to both Allied players and the first Allied player to pick it up notifies the other that he has the turn. When he is finished he sends it to his team mate. When his team mate is finished, same thing, he sends it to both Japanese players. First Japanese player to get the turn notifies his team mate and so on.

EDIT: One more thing, may be obvious, first player on a side to get the turn simply SAVES his moves when he is finished. Second player hits END TURN to send it to his opponents. Something to keep in mind as it happens from time to time that the first player forgets and hits END TURN before sending it to his team mate. Therefore it's usually a good idea to keep a backup copy of the turn you receive at least until the next turn arrives so that if you accidentaly hit END TURN before passing to your team mate you can go back and redo.

Activity - yes. I am NOT in Colorodo but in the beautiful state of Montana. [:)] I know, those of you in Florida can't really tell the difference. [;)]

I don't mind at all which side I do - I'll try to contact Darken and see if he needs some help. I guess I will have to install the mod too. [X(]

nomad(dot)pbem(at)gmail(dot)com is my email.

I have and am playing a team game. Like Gary said, the first player to get the turn only saves, not ends the turn.

I don't see an email address for darken92 - so I sent him a PM - will have to wait and see what happens. [8|]
