I´ve ordered to stop those attacks as I take too many op losses... an average of 4 or 5 aircraft every attack from attacking a target at 2 hexes range that has no flak isn´t acceptable... [8|] wonder why the higher durability in Nikmod doesn´t help at all...

ALL OVER THE MAP the Allied base forces have radar now, which means we have to fight against the 100% Allied privileg of the bounce already. At the moment we are still coming out as the winner without problems due to our high experience compared to the Allied but as soon as our exp will drop the bounce will be a killer. The randomnes of Allied radar that has been implemented in some recent patch is something I have never seen so far. Hopefully this will be adressed in AE also, because as it is now, the Allied have radar and AWACS of the 21 century, not radar from 1941... [8|]

the B-17s can´t be reached by our fighters and above 25.000 ft there´s also no flak gun firing anymore. We lose 2 Zeroes on the ground... [8|] Doubt it that bombers could hit a small atoll like Johnston from 36.600 ft. The damn thing about it is that we will lose aircraft on the ground all the time. No B-17 is lost to ops of course, flying 13 hexes... I hope this won´t become the norm to see them coming in at their max height. [8|][8|]

overcast, the base has been reconned for weeks. Still a very bad hit rate even though most bomber crews are in the 80s. I can´t figure out why we don´t hit the airfields... Still two dozen planes were destroyed on the ground. Today we achieve a 44:12 in aircraft lost.

Aircraft Attacking:
16 x B-17E Fortress bombing at 6000 feet

looks like the super high alt attack last turn was just a feint to get me setting my fighters higher, but that wouldn´t help as they just can´t reach above 32.000 ft so I haven´t touched them. With 90% cap 10.000ft we see the usual 60% in the air and the B-17Es are coming in extremely low, considering the fact that Swift knows that the base forces at Johnston can put up some good flak fire at that height. Amazingly enough - but that´s Nikmod - we don´t see a single B-17 being shot down during the combat replay!!! About 30 are damaged by our fighters while 50 are damaged by flak fire. In the end 6 B17s are lost, 4 A2A and 2 to flak... NONE to ops. Considering the fact that they have a fatigue level of 52!!!!!! [X(] from those 2 missions at max range in a row the losses were MINIMAL IMO... We lose 4 Zeroes on the ground. With the 2 last turn the losses were 6:6...

As a side note, I lost 5!! Helens to the single Chinese base force at Changsha this turn and we are flying only 2 hexes...

Japanese max assault: 81 - adjusted assault: 165

Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1

Japanese assault odds: 165 to 1 (fort level 8)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Hengchow base !!!

Swift has built up Hengchow to level 8 forts and then he just leaves it... I can´t understand that. We have now a supply path down the rail to Canton and can operate some 5000 assault points in the South with another 5000 sitting in and East of Changsha. I would have definetely tried to defend Hengchow as level 8 forts could really hurt me. Now I will attack the ex defenders of Hengchow in the clear hex just North of it and will have no problem to dislodge them I think.

unbelievable super effective LBA from Swift... something I´m dreaming about as Allied in my game against PzJg Hortlund. I´m not nearly achieving such hit rates... and this against a heavily capped target... damn it... as bad as his fighters are performing as good are his bombers, wonder why...

in the end the Allied lose 10 aircraft today, we lose 12 [8|] and we lose at least 2 of those small AKs... a bad turn... I have ordered retaliation strikes tomorrow...

we have orderd 60% of the available bombers on ground attack but that´s hardly something our bombers are willing to do... [8|] you need constant ground attacks or they help NOTHING! You cause only disruption and if it takes a couple of days to see the next ground attacks than the disruption is already gone again and all you achieve is to ramp up your op losses...

after our sweeps we sent in the IJA bomber fleet. Again, the Allied had the bounce the whole fight, but that´s nothing new, something we will see now until the end of the war... [8|] A2A losses were nearly 1:1 but the bombers were unharmed and smashed the airfield. Swift has spread out his airforce in India and so also his base forces. This means that Dacca only has light AA defense and we take advantage of that and only 2 bombers are lost. In the end, a good day for us but the losses in our fighter daitais are getting severe.

we are not happy with the Allied bomber force at Darwin so we had to send in our BBs once again. I thought Swift would take his aircraft back to the East coast after the first bombardment but he is stubborn and so I can´t build up my position on Timor without being at risk at all the time. Perhaps he now is going to take them back...

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Wooden hex behind the river NW of Changsha where the ex garrison troops from Hengchow were retreating to. Those troops were forced to retreat today but there are more units in the hex that didn´t retreat due to a higher fort level. But those troops should be kicked out of the hex in a couple of days. Then we can decide if we move on the roads towards Chungking or Kweiyang. In the meantime we would like to start our assault on Changsha but constant NOT flying ground attacks makes this difficult...
