Ok, my mistake I started the game with UV2.0.

Now with 2.1 running... Same basic opening turn for Germany but the Chinese are not so lucky this time and we take Foochow.

The 'Sitzkrieg' between Germany and France looks a little different in UV. Sandeman uses the minimum possible force to conquer Poland, redeploying an imposing army into W. Germany.

The French rail in reinforcements from Western France and build an armor to augment the defenses. Turn sent to Sandeman.

Germany Fa'39

Germany thinks twice about attacking Sedan after seeing the massed French armor columns. We will instead conduct extensive sitzkrieg operations.

China, though, promises to see a bit of action soon...

During Summer 39 the veteran German Uboat went elite while damaging a transport. I passed on the opportunity to attack him with -4 to my dice during that turn. In Fall 39 the Royal Navy counterattacks; striking the elite sub in the South Atlantic (missing badly), but also attacking a newbie Uboat flotilla in North Atlantic 2 sea zone. A British hunter killer group gets the elusive autohit; killing the sub and gaining veteran status.

German bombing raids on Scotland were blunted by good flak rolls; no action from the Wehrmacht.

TLC is seized and all available manpower is sent West to ward off any counterattack.

The massed Chinese army in Changsha is attacked by the IJA with favorable results...

Allied Winter '40 turn ... British forces evacuate France.

The Japanese spoiling attack on Changsha has reduced the Chinese frontier army to 3 INF and 3 MIL.

Germany Spr'41

France falls, but we encountered a glitch wherein only the combat choice popup came up (not with the typical combat odds calculator) and wouldn't let me undo the move as the army lists didn't appear.

Kinda hard to explain and probably impossible to repeat, but it essentially forced me to attack with less forces than I wanted, without the benefit of combat odds. Here's a SS of the combat (notice the flag glitch at the bottom)

The glitch Sandeman refers to was described in an earlier post by Lebatron; when attacking E. France the attacking units can become hidden by the attack selection box such that you can no longer click on the units with the cursor. When this happens you need to change the zoom level in AWD; this should allow you to access your units again.

One major action during the Allied Spring 40 turn; remembering that the English Channel is now 0 spaces wide, Churchill notices a Luftwaffe concentration of 1 FTR, 1 STR, 1 TAC in Western France; within range of 3 FTR, 1 STR, 1 TAC in England, along with 2 CAG on anti-sub patrols in the vicinity. The RAF FTRs are 5/5 vs the German 6/6 and will face the -3 max range penalty, but Combat analyzer predicts losses of:

attacker - 1.12
defender - 2.35

making it look like a good attack. Then 2 autohits by the RAF turn this into a stirring victory to boost British morale in the wake of the Fall of France.

Germany Sum'40

What can we say? 2 autohits and 1 good roll just put half the luftwaffe out of action.

Yugo falls and our new Italian allies help us push into Egypt. Notice also that the SU has not sent any units to E.Poland and thus will not get their FM2 until Fa'40. I wonder if the extra strat moves are worth it?

Also of note, Norway became offended at the fall of Yugo, and we had to subdue them also [:-]

The German juggernaut marches on ... Norway, Yugoslavia and Western Egypt are engulfed. Reinforcements are rushed to Cairo while the 3 MIL garrison of Italian East Africa is destroyed by a 3 INF, 1 ART, 2 HS assault (this is an important attack to prepare for in UV2.1; another one will come later with the Madagascar event). The Germans continue to push Uboats into the Atlantic ... Sandeman has an elite sub that I can't touch, but the Brits have good rolls against the other two; first an auto hit by a CAG in the North Atlantic ...

I had planned to bring the Greeks over to our side, but Mussolini decided to attack first...so we had to take control of the situation. The afrika corps marches on into Egypt.

I truly appreciate your mention of UV2.0 scenario specifics and am sure I'm not alone in that
