I hope they are gonna put some different music in there. The Japanese music is allright but maybe they could put Anchors Aweigh and The marine hymn in there.
RE: Music
I would love som ww2 theme radio stuff like commercials and news there too. Pacific general had it and it was brilliant.

Or just allow the players to choose the music. Make a folder to which we can copy our music. [;)]

RE: Music
I think some Big Band music from the era would be appropo....or maybe some "Tokyo Rose" clips.

I loved this feature in Hearts of Iron:
There was a music folder, and the music/sound files were required to be in a mp3 format, IIRC. You then typed up a music.txt file, listing the file names you wanted to be played in game. The game would play (in randomised order) the music listed in the .txt list.
I downloaded a bunch of my favorite war movie themes, and listened to that while playing.

Pacific general had both of those. And more. I also liked hearing news about rubber shortage and stuff. [:D]

Pacific General had the BEST music with radio clips interspersed. It was practically like they recorded straight from a radio station from the 40s. I think that would be great! Also the a load screen in the form of a newspaper announcing the attack on Pearl Harbor would be cool. I did such a load screen a while back for WitP but you couldn't read any of the print on it other than the headlines. It would be neat to be able to read Dec 7 newspaper articles while loading up. HoI has a great music score too. Montgomery's March and 101 Airborne are a couple of my favorites from it. I actually recorded them onto CD and play them in the car once in awhile. [:D]

Of all the problems of WITP, why would you want them to waste their limited time on something you can fix yourself by turning the sound off and turning on a radio or a CD player?

I had hopes for this also - but I got educated. To put real music in costs $$ - at least until the music is 75 years old or more. So If we're doing WWI then we can do it, but for WWII still can't. Otherwise, we have to record some original music, and we would need some musicians to play something we wanted to record in order to do that!

I am at the same level, I used to play some 12 string guitar - about 40 years ago. I could probalby play a bit of ukulele(sp?), but I doubt anyone would want to listen. [:D]
RE: Music
For period music, I just stayed tuned to pandora.com and let it run in the background..It allows you to generate your own "radio stations" and will play 1 song from each, then move to another "stations"..I have Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Andrews Sisters, Roy Acuff,Ink Spots, and the pandora.com finds them and other bands/singers which it catogoizes as similar.(If it gets something wrong, like throwing in a Dean Martin song, you just block that one song)..Currently, it is playing something like 100 different tunes for me, at random, and all for free..........It does not interfere with my gameplay......

RE: Music
Those interested in appropriate background audio might want to check out Voices of World War II at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. This site is a library of audio clips from radio broadcasts during the war, and includes news reports, propaganda broadcasts, entertainment programs, commercials, and popular music related to the war.

I second that. This was by far the best music in any pacific game that had been on earth
RE: Music
Pacific general had both of those.
PacGeneral had a good soundtrack, marred only by the fact that it was too brief and repeated rather quickly.

Music!!!
I'm sure it burns up the 2 bytes which makes my PC run slow.
I have nosounds and novideos, funny how it makes the game play exactly the same, if not a little faster.
