New PBEM--GMT -6 (+/- 2hours)

Post by twolf03a »

Looking to start a new game. Anyone interested?

I am new...so probably not the best to host...however, I am willing to get it organized.

Winter Land Movement +
Guard Commit +
Allow PBEM Host +
Allow Option Changes during the game - (+ if we play before patch)
Third Party battle resolution -
PBEM passwords +
Econ Manip +
GB/FR War +
Leader Cas +

PBEM Quick ?

Just my initial thoughts...

My current game is very slow moving so I am in. If this fills it up that's great! I can host if you want.

What are the surrender conditions for France and England? Will it have to be unconditional and will it have to be as set in the old rules? Or just Unconditional? or Any terms are fine?

PMed you my email address.

I think I am number seven (unless someone else beat me to the punch). I have offered to host so if twolf03a will confirm who the seven players are (and I am one of them) I will start taking GAP bids. You can email them to me through my profile, and then I will email everyone back with the results and the gamestart.pbm.

what are we calling this game?

and I suggest setting up a google groups page for sharing files and emails, its what I do for two other games and it works awesome...must easier than emailing attachments all the time

I can set it up if you want

Here are the seven players that I am tracking. Alan has volunteered to host....thanks!! If you would all send him your bids we can get started. My only question is have any of you used the PBEM Combat option? Does it speed up the game?

First, using pbem combat means no chit picking for combat, which ruins the flavor of the entire game...

Second, can I suggest that we use one word for the game name, using more than one word creates very long file names and is unwieldy, and there is no reason why you need longer...so why dont we use "aflame"

More information about the players after reading all my emails.

ecn1 "Erik"
BoerWar "???"
AdmNelson "Lew"
dauphan129 "Alan" Hosting

I am good with the one word name--"Aflame"

I was trying to figure out how to speed up the game.  I know it would change the game a little without chit, but how many emails get generated when France crosses the Danube while Turkey screams in from the south?  Is it six per battle?  I don't care either way; just thinking out loud.

I am in two other games now, the best way to speed up the game is to have people do their turns in each phase within 12hrs...combats between players are not that frequent in comparison, the real time burner is waiting for people to do their phase.....combats between only computer and players are automated

also, if we can arrange a time or two during the week where we are all online, we can burn through some phases together pretty quickly...that will really speed it up

I can agree to most of this, but I think 12 hours may be agressive during the week. For those that work a turn arriving late at night may be difficult to complete until after work the next day. What about 24 hrs during the week and 12 on the weekend?

Combat resolution: My vote would be to allow the players in a battle to make all the picks. Just make a rule that when the land phase is in lay all players should check their emails at a set time (say 7:00 pm CST). The phasing player could otherwise send out an email letting those who may be fighting battle know. The moves should go back and forth pretty quick once the battle starts if both sides are at the computer. I think you'll find the land phase only rolls around every 4-7 days by PBEM.
