Should be able to start a game tomorrow, at the latest Friday. Can people who already have slots and are going to play PM the player before them in the list with their E-Mail address so that they can send their turn once the game starts. You can start doing this now if you like.

My thanks to Slowhand for his willingness to step back aside once I was made aware that the game had started, however once I was dismissed from this game so quickly, I joined another.

As I have no interest in playing two games at once, I will remain away from this one and I certainly wish Slowhand well in it.

I wanted to post a public message so that everyone would know to contact him as Russia.

Anybody know if I need an HHQ in Ireland? If I produce something in Dublin, can i deposit it in London?

I believe it automatically transfers it for you without the need to build HQ (or does it! lol).[:'(]

I'm no expert, (as I've stated), but there are situations where ship production away from your HQ will result in the completed ship 'waiting' for a nearby HQ to deliver it to. I've tried producing ships away from my HQ port and they never arrived... I'll try to read up a bit more for an answer.

Also, I'm offered the chance to e.g. Build a ship in Dublin, so what's the point of shipwarves? Can they ONLY produce ships, and other cities can produce anything?

            I believe the way it works with over-seas production is that as long as you have an open ship lane you can produce anything BUT ships in the overseas production center and it'll show up in the recieving HQ. The ships Produced in the overseas Production center will instead attach to a unit in the Production Centers hex. Anyway that's how it seemed to work when I tried a test game.

Thanks Mel. I build ships in Dublin. But never mind, I can create a unit to carry them over to London no doubt.

The way diplomacy has gone, I'm glad there's a channel between me and the mess on the continent!

OK, I'm up and downed my coffee: I am about to open the turn.
 
1. Russia of course has no territorial ambitions on our fellow peace-loving Nations. We would not attack anyone --- on Turn 1 at least
 
2. Lots of bellicose talk has aroused the Tsar's concerns, and we remind our fellow Sovereigns that Russia has mighty Armies to defend the Rodina. And cold Winters.
 
3. Do any parties have any Diplomatic Arrangements they wish to declare? Secret deals will be looked at unkindly by the International Community. Post-war Tribunals will of course punish any evil-doers.

I just manged to get my turn uploaded (500+KB) and sent my turn off to Turkey (Therockyfroggy)
 
@ BULLDOG (and others): Should we create a new thread in the AAR section of the AT forum, and start posting comments (and occasional pics) there?  We might pick up a derisive Peanut Gallery. An appropriate thread title and copy/paste of the post about the set-up and turn order?

Yes to the "only produce ships" and a qualified yes to "other cities can produce anything?" questions. At least some Nations have "Supply Base town/cities" which only produce Supply and PPs. And finally, the "point of ship wharves" is that they are hexes where you can port fleets for re-supply, or create new Naval Units.

2 other things you can do when you build new ships at a City Port:

(1) "Transfer" the ships (the T-Hotkey) where they are built to a unit at sea or another port. Given the high 20-hex range of this scenario's Naval units, you can send them quite far. BUT, be sure the Transfer Lane isn't interdicted by an enemy's Anti-supply efforts --- losing a BB or a Cruiser that way is painful. Note that the unit receiving the transfer will have its Formation APs set to zero, so be sure to finish your Naval Movement before doing so. Individual sub-units of the receiving Formation retain their AP, and could still be used, but you would need to create a new unit (and hence be in a Wharf or Port city) and then dump the just-transferred units into the new unit. This burns a PP, but you might wish to do so to have

(2) Create a new HQ unit in the producing Naval-Only City, if the situation warrants. You can then use that HQ unit with some Cargo ships to transfer (via the T-Hotkey again) Naval Supplies to your fleets at sea, thus allowing them to stay at sea. You could also assign another city to that HQ so that supplies and new ships would go directly there IF the path is not interdicted by Enemy Anti-Supply. In that case, some/many/all Supplies are lost, and Unit production is "bottled up" in the production queue of the 2nd city.
