Endless game lockups

Last few days I've encountered lockups virtually every game turn when clicking within the UI. Rarely had this before, just ran maintenance on PC so running optimally on Win 98SE. Completely bewildered as there were no problems with this same system for 4 years...now all hell has broken loose![:D] Any pearls of wisdom out there?[;)]

Ron, try renaming the SOUNDS folder to NOSOUNDS and see if that helps. I think it has to do with the click sound. Most likely the problem is in your WinDoze, probably a codex error. If renaming the sounds folder cures it, we can look for the problem in your computer.
