I am playing RHS CVO and I can tell you that I keep my DB's at 25k and my Kates at 16k to avoid the worst of the flak. My DB loss were light over PH but my Kates decided on torpedoes and I lost 48 planes. Keep your planes high to reduce your loses. As for the Boise she took two torpedoes from an RO sub and then two more from the Taiyo. She is still afloat until tommorow, then she is going down. Sorry ny59giants.

Sounds like good advice. I am probably going to try 20k and adjust from there. The only problem is that when my DBs attack from a high altitude they attack in groups of 9 and most of the time I prefer them to attack in groups of 3.

I think I'll put together a deathstar of BBs and CAs and go trolling for allied CVs - nothing but Pete Float planes and AAA. Say 8 BB and 12 CA with 4 DD for ASW escort. Surely no enemy DBs or TBs would be able to penetrate that kind of AAA power <grin>.

According to Sid this may not be a good idea. AA is directional and so the overall value listed does not have the same effect as in stock. Although flak is more effective it is not going to stop a carrier wing from sinking your BB's you need carrier support. Here is something I have found works well. Place a single BB with your slow CVE's. The bombers will go for the BB and not your flattops. 1000kg gp bombs do almost no damage to Japanese BB. Try it I think you'll like it.

Upgrading to a new version of EOS. Apparently many of the allied planes don't get produced because of a problem in slot 10... This will require a restart.

Carl and I have replayed the first week of this mod twice now - this will be the 3rd try for us.

I'm modifying start plans for T0. In the restart I'll:

Put more emphasis in the DEI. I think I'll put more effort into Borneo, Malaya and the PI at the start.

I've agreed not to invade Hawaii for 2 turns. Johnston and Midway are still viable targets and I will probably go after them. I will use political points to pull units from Japan to boloster an invasion force for Hawaii plus add support units to help push the Chinese back on that front.

Right now I'm still trying to find the latest version of RHS EOS (which I think is 7.792).
