Ardennes Scenario in 1.10

Post by Icedawg »

I just downloaded the 1.10 patch yesterday and tried to play the stock Ardennes scenario, but when I went to start up, I got a message window indicating that I was about to begin a game designed for an earlier version.

Will the original Ardennes scenario work with the 1.10 patch?

If no, does that mean that 1.10 is limitied to WAW and the Axis and Allies scenario?

If yes, why does the computer bother giving me this warning?

I'm pretty sure this is just a notification that you're playing a scenario designed with earlier version. I know you can get rid of message by loading scenario in editor and saving it. When you go in and load to play after that it doesn't show warning.

It might not matter if it was designed with earlier version right now, but looking at how TOAW evolved, I think this is a good feature for AT to let you know the version the scenario was made with before you start playing.

I'll double check all stock scenarios are saved in the v1.10 patch upon gold release of this patch.
I thought i did, but something might have gone wrong with the installer.
Thanks for reporting.

It will however work fine as it is now too. just a bit annoying.

When I got the game, I installed and then patched immidiately without even starting the game. Played part of the Ardennes last night with no warnings. Can it be related to the sequence of installation - playing/editing - patching? I assume any patch also patch the stock scenarios as needed?

EDIT: Vic beat my response with a couple of minutes [:)]

I just did a clean install of the v1.10k patch. And it works as it should. It should overwrite the original (v1.02) Ardennes scenario with the (V1.10) Ardennes scenario.

The only thing i can think off is that you somehow are playing a scenario you started in v1.02 and saved, then upgraded to v1.10 and now loaded again to continue play. If thats the case this behaviour is expected and should dissapear after saving and loading again in v1.10.

Kind regards,
Vic

I'm playing with stock, patched to 1.02, then patched to 1.10. What is "Realmod"?

Realmod was a terrain set by nick69 (I think that's his handle). It changed the default terrain graphics. It's located in the download area of the community site -

Do you have one Ardennes in your Scenario folder, or do you have 2? I believe you want to load only Ardennes not Ardennes2 (unless you load the realmod too).

Are you still getting the version message?

See image below:

one on left is the Real Mod terrain, the right is the Std Terrain.

I just got this game & patched it to v1.02 & then to 1.10. I am getting the same error message for all the original scenarios when I open them not just the Ardennes. I don't have any save games as I am just checking everything out & have not started playing yet.I also opened them after I installed 1.02 to test everything worked ok & got no error messages. So it seems that somehow the scenarios were not updated for 1.10 but they were for 1.02.I hope this info is helpful.

It's not really an "error" message, only a warning, you can still play the scenarios
