Strange data in some combat reports

Post by Herode_2 »

Hi guys !

Here a screenshot with a strange combat report. I am playing the Deep Federation in a random game and in the attacked hex there are only 3 subs of mine :

Is it a bug or am I missing something ????

Doesn't look like a bug to me. Looks more like the team "Workers Party" sent fighters to intercept the divebombers sent to attack your subs. Lucky you!

Yep, you're right, could be a feature. Hmmmmm, I wonder if it makes sense for one of my opponents to intercept an attack of another of my opponents. Is this interception automatic or "randomatic" ?

Anyway, 1 dive bomber vs. 29 fighters and still alive, lucky him [:D]

I believe interception is automatic. So if your fighters are set to intercept and your enemy flies into your intercept range to attack someone else, your planes will react.

looks like another AI is comming to your aid. i think it is a feature i didnt think of myself yet :)

the other AI is not seeing the subs.. so it thinks the divebomber is intruding towards its area of dominion. hence the intercept.

rest assured the other AI was not intentionally trying to help you!

i'll see if i can prevent intercepts from doing this anyway for the gold version of v1.1

thanks for reporting!

Hi Vic,

Why would you want to prevent this? Seems like a prefectly reasonable outcome to me. Like you said the other AI didn't know about the subs and just responded to what it thought was an intrusion on it's airspace.

Vic,

I agree with Barthheart - This seems reasonable response to me. Nothing to "fix".

OK, seems correct like this, +1 from here too [:)]

Or... let's say +1/2. BTW, using this feature, I could lead the Christian Country to loose a lot of planes : I move my subs in that zone, the CC IA spots me & attacks, the WP intercepts, next turn, I move my subs, etc... If the CC attacks and the WP interception are both automatic, then one could (unfairly) exploit this feature : against the IA (no problem, the guy just spoils his own game challenge...) but also in MP 3+ players games. [:'(]
