Annoying Quirk that I wish were changed

Post by mbsports »

I hate the fact that if I sim a human controlled game the cpu screws with the depth chart.

That shouldn't happen in my humble opinion. I'd love to be able to sim some of the games for my CFL simulation but the computer does so much with regard to changing the rosters that I can't. The cpu also should never sign free agents for a human controlled team or release players.

Kind of the idea of having human controlled teams... the cpu won't mess with em'.

Thanks,

Mb

Yes it happens.  Exactly the way he says it does.  The last time I did that, I found one of my best DB's on another team.  I think it has something to do with your roster not matching your profile.

It would also be nice if the computer controlled teams put the best players at each position.  In certain cases, they do the exact opposite.

This happens when a human owner gives the program conflicting information. The team profile allows the human owner to set up the team with the number of players in each position. If the human owner changes the roster so the position numbers on the team no longer match the team profile, the AI will adjust the roster to match the profile numbers.

I figured that's what it was.  But how do you set the profile to the amount of players you want in each position?

When on the team profile screen, just change the position of the players listed in the draft area on the left. The numbers on the right will follow.

I usually use the last slots of the profile to make those kind of adjustments.

Hi.

Marauders is correct. You need to ensure that your team profile matches your roster. The quick sim dialog reminds you that this is required before going into the simulation mode (v2.1.8). The reason being is that when you go into simulation mode, you're giving control of the team back to the computer so it can do the job you're asking of it. If the computer didn't do this, you'd rarely be able to sim weeks or seasons at a time because the process would always be stopped waiting for the human to manage rosters. For example, if during a game a player is injured and it needs to make a roster move it would need to stop the simulation process to ask the human what to do. That would defeat the purpose (and the major feature people were asking for) of being able to just click 'simulate season', walk away, and come back later when it's done.

You should also be getting warnings when a roster change conflicts with the team profile.

thanks

Yes, Marauders was a huge help.  He has allowed me to master the profile.  Too kind, too kind!

Very helpful to me as well, especially for the Arena league MBFL is starting up. For CFL where we have 5 games per week it wasn't that big of a deal to set one of the workstations on running the games but for Arena with 10 more games a week or so that was going to require a lot of time. Utilizing the information here allows me to sim those games. That being said I still think I'd like it if the computer did things similar to how it runs a game that is watched. IE it doesn't change the depth chart, it doesn't release players, it doesn't sign players even though the computer has control over the teams. It's a scemantics issue once the profile is set up though and one I can live with and modify to what I need, same as a lot of things in Max FB - if something isn't doing what you want it to do, you have the power to change it and make it fit your mold, that's what makes this such a valuable performer in the pantheon of sims.
