Aircraft Range?

Post by floydg »

Quick one: How is the aircraft range computed? Is it some function of the endurance?

Thanks.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

There are potential complications.

Some mods use drop tanks. Each drop tank adds one minute of endurance for each pound of weight of the tank. This isn't exactly right - but it is close for most classical fighters - and it is the way code works.

The normal range = 25% of transfer range.

The extended range = 33% of transfer range.

Transports work to 50% of transfer range.

This is right for fighters - and wrong for everything else. So in RHS - we use it for fighters ONLY.

We modify transfer range so what would have been 42% (of the original) = 33% (of the new) for everything except fighters and transports.

We modify transfer range for transports so what would have been 42% (of the original) = 50% (of the new).

And we call transport flying boats patrol flying boats - instead of transports - so they work without runways from tenders - and because they can carry troops or cargo. Without armament they are not great bombers.

El Cid -

So for other than fighters and transports, you increase the transfer range by 27%, and for transports by 16%, right?

Do mods other than RHS also make modifications to the range?

No - for non fighters other than transports, we increase transfer range by 9%.

For transports, we decrease range by 8%.\

Except for mods based on RHS (e.g. Empire's Ablaze and couple of others which may not have released yet)
as far as I know the operational ranges are not changed. But it is such a good idea it won a consensus on the board,
so it may be others are using it. Almost certainly mods do change range vs stock - as these were not consistent with each other - and both stock and CHS used to deliberately understate Allied bomber ranges. I am sure someone changed that at least.

I expect that most mods have changes to aircraft ranges. CHS certainly does.
