Napoleonic Campaign
Napoleonic Campaign
In the original Prelude to Waterloo game there was an option that allowed you to port the results (casualties) of the Twin Battles scenario over to the Waterloo game.
I have completed a Twin Battles scenario with the campaing option but am unsure how I port the results into the Waterloo scenario.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I looked through the manual and could not find any information.

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
The reason you can't find it is because your beginning statement is incorrect. Loses from one battle never carried over to the other in Talonsoft games. This type of game play is ONLY available with the HPS nappy and acw games.

No this was an actual option that was added when prelude to waterloo was released by Talonsoft.
I did it with the old games. I just don't recall how to do it and don't anything that explains it.
If you look at the Prelude to Waterloo game in the new release if you play the "Twin Battles" there is an option for the "Campaign game".
Another poster asked the same question previously but did not get a response so I am not the only one who recalls this option.
RE: Napoleonic Campaign
Sorry, you're correct.
But that feature was not carried over in the Matrix version. It only exist with the older version.
I imagine, that when John Tiller recomplied the games for Matrix, he wanted to keep that feature unique to the HPS games.

You are kidding. [:@]
Foolishly I had assumed that all the features of the old game would be preserved in the re-release.
90% of the reason I bought the re-release was to use this feature.
I do think Matrix owes an explanation.
RE: Napoleonic Campaign
Not kidding,
But only guessing at the motive.
Have you tried the HPS Waterloo? Huge map!

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
I have tried it but was so disappointed with the graphics that I gave up.
I do not like 2d and the 3d images were so difficult to see that it took most of the fun out of the game.
If you are aware of a way to improve the graphics so that they are more visible I would be inclined to give it a try again.

I only play in 2D. Only rarely go to 3D.
Try this nappy website for possible 3D graphics information.

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
I was also disappointed at the absence of the campaign option in the re-release. I used it several times in the Talonsoft version. Don't get me wrong -- I love having the new set of games, but they should have come with the campaign option. I don't think it would be all that hard to patch it into the Matrix versions.

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
Actually, I wasn't aware that this feature was missing and I also recall it being there in the original releases. I'll ask John if that's a bug or something that was removed along the way. Was this present in ALL TS and post-TS unofficial updates from John right up until the Matrix release?

Thank you for responding.
I do not know the answer to your question.
All I know is that the campaign game was a feature of the original release and to my knowledge, never removed while Talonsoft was actively supporting the games.
Since I had always seen the campaing game as the main feature of Prelude to Waterloo, I would be surprised if it was ever removed.

No, this was always a part of the TS version of the game and was never 'patched out' to my knowledge. In fact, it was IIRC one of the big selling points of Prelude on the packaging itself.
A real leader faces the music, even when he doesn't like the tune.

That is also my recollection. It can't have been taken out deliberately; there must be some mistake??

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
Ok, we spoke with John. This was left out inadvertently and we're sorry it slipped through the cracks.
John had to rebuild parts of each program in order to get them to work with Vista. When that happened, the Prelude/Waterloo campaign part was left out. We have an older version here before the last rebuild that should work on every OS but Vista that still has this in there, we're going to see if we can package that up and stick in the Members Club for those who are using XP or older operating systems.
In the meantime, John is going to look into adding that back in for a future update.
Regards,
- Erik

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
Erik,
I just happened to check this thread after several months have passed and I've read your replies. Thank you for responding and for checking with John Tiller. Matrix is one of the best companies I've had the pleasure to do business with over the last several years. I would say that for the continuing support of WITP alone, but it's true for all of the titles I have purchased from Matrix.
Thanks,
David

RE: Napoleonic Campaign
I also appreciated the response, but to date, the problem does not seem to have been addressed. Unless, I missed an update along the way.
