V2.2 Disappearing Ships Bug

Post by kevwalsh »

Hi,

I've started playing PacWar agin - hadn't played in 7 years. Well it's September 1942 and I have just created a powerful Bombardment Task force in New Caledonia with six BB's in it. I then created a TF for a cargo run, went back to my Bombardment TF only to see it was gone. In fact, all the BBs in it have disappeared from the game.

For a PacWar newbie (again!) has anybody else experienced this bug?

Many thanks,

Kevin

Some British BB disappear as they historically were sent back to Europe or somewhere.

Is ti all the Tf or only the BB's taht disappeared ? Could be they ran out of fuel in disputed waters and were withdrawn, they then come back some time after in their original HQ. I think this happens.

This happens to all RN heavy units (CV, BB, BC, CA) on the first week of every month that they are either in port or their TF has returned to its Home Port.

If this was a US BB TF, then this is a problem. Use the "find ships" utility to try and locate the ships, they might be in the SW corner of the map "hiding out" That happenned to me a few times too.
Still playing PacWar (but no so much anymore)...

Guys, thanks for the reponse. Yes it was a US TF, I remembered that British ships were withdrawn from when I used to play years ago. Went immediately to the FIND SHIPS in case they had been "mysteriously transported" to another port or the TF had moved but no go. These BBs are gone from the game.

And boy am I feeling their loss. One week of night actions around Guadalcanal lost me three BBs - but then Japanese felt some pain too!

Hopefully this issue has been found and may be addressed in a future patch.

Thanks

Never heard or seen this before, while whole Army divisions are known to disappear, hasn't happened to BBs yet. You can use a suitable editor to move them back (probably). I'd like to see a savefile from after the event, if you still have such.

I remember this happened to me years ago too. It didn't matter what kind of ship it was.
It happened when I missed a button or so while setting up the TF. I don't remember what it was exactly.
Solution for me was while setting up a TF and I missed a button with the mouse to start again from scratch.

Worked every time for me but I don't know if it is your problem.

Happened to me,too starting with the first Pacwar released from SSI .
Missed a button then created a TF and sometimes only one group was lost and sometimes all ships were lost .
sometimes with automatic creation of TF ans sometimes with manual selecting ships .
