9-player Diplomacy - Turkish AAR

Post by Vic »

Round 1

The Sultan of Turkey has signed a peace treaty with the Tsar of Russia.

Furthermore the Sultan took his time this turn to inspect his troops and factories. The Sultan feels the most dangerous enemy to the Turks are the Balkans. Under personal supervision of the Sultan the build up of an offensive army is now taking place.

In the south Turkey borders to the UK. Troops raced to the Nile and took up defense positions on its eastbank. A peace offer has been send to the UK upon taking these defensive positions. The Sultan hopes the Nile will be a permanent border for the forseeable future so that the Turkish troops will have their hands free to slaughter the Balkans.

Round 2

The Sultan has narrowly escaped from an untimely dead. With unprecendented speed the Balkan forces blitzed the Turkish positions.

Through uncivilized methods like amphibious assaults the Balkan army managed to take Gallipoli and Istanbul. In the process our young airfleet was destroyed on the ground. Also half our fleet was annihialated without ever having been out of port.

Reserve troops have been directed to the front and Istanbul could be recaptured before round 2 ended.

This evening an enraged Sultan declared a Holy War on the Balkan Empire.

Here is a picture of the situation at the end of round 2.

Round 3

The Balkan barbarians caused severe casualties. We lost up to 200 infantry and 6 armour when the Balkans retook the Bosporus straights.

The Sultan tries what he can to stop the tide of war turning further against the glorious Turkish empire, but at least on the sea the Turks showed their true supriority. The remainders of the Turkish navy soundly sunk the enemy fleet near Gallipoli.

Round 4

Turkey stumbles from disaster into disaster. With joined airstrikes and artillery strikes our last foothold on the European continent was wiped out. Enemy mobile forces quickly exploited their victory and struck deep, even hitting artillery formations.

The Sultan has sounded a fall back. The enemy is just to strong to hold at the moment.

"Better to live to fight another day!"

round 6

Although Ankara was surrounded by the Balkan barbarians we managed to force back 3 enemy units. The Sultan now is hoping to hold out the next enemy attack. He put some screening AT forces infront of Ankara and stockpiled Ankara and neighbouring road hex with infantry and Flak. Raw turkish manpower should blunt enemy advances. Or so the Sultan seems to think.

Also (even though he hates to admit it) the Sultan offered peace to the Balkan aggressors. He even offered 40 political points in return.

The Balkan barbarians refused our peace offer and smashed our lines, but did NOT TAKE Ankara! The proud Turks hold.

Some succesfull counter offensives where launched, especially in the south against enemy light elements.
But in the north the offensive stalled due to very highly experienced enemy troops holding out against the odds.

All is not lost. All seems to be in the balance for the Sultan. Ankara must be held!

The Sultan has fled to Damascus and the remainders of the Turkish army where further diminished in a pointless, failed and costly counterattack.

Turkey is now a wrecked nation without sufficient production base or troops to be a match for any neighbours.

The Sultan however swears revenge against the vile enemy who has destroyed his once glorious empire.
