Minor security bug

Post by gwheelock »

The program is showing the remaining MOVEMENT on FOREIGN corp.

It is then possible to track the corp until the other power's movement phase
(in the case shown; it is possible to know that the Prussian player removed
the other corp in the Berlin stack during his reinforcement because the
remaining corp shows the >1< remaining movement)

Is this a bug ? In the board game you'd be able to watch your opponent move his forces so this is only a representation of that isn't it ?

Its a bug if the info persists past the land movement phase because it allows
others to identify a specific corp after they should have faded back to anonymity
(as in Berlin after the Prussian reinforcement & removal of the OTHER corp that
was there - I can tell that the remaining corp is the one Nappy booted out of
Area148 [ie the Pr II corp] - this means that I now know the max size of that unit.)

In the board game you can only track the identity of a corp until it crosses paths
with another & then you don't know which went where (if the phasing player played
right - many were somewhat ... sloppy ... in trying to maintain operational security.

Note - I don't consider this a MAJOR bug by any stretch; but anything that identifies
a unit to an opponent outside of combat is a bug.
