I have not seen a jap carrier for nearly two years.   I suspect that they are rusted solid to some pier somewhere.

Well EXCUSE me! If it wasn't for your embargo in the first place that made me start this game I could just have impored some nasty chemical to disolve the rust. You deny trade, you deny CV confrontation. Take it or leave it.[8D]

Bugger !

Post by Raverdave »

Well I wanted to give our Hero a bit of a wake-up call but all i got was a slap in the face.  I sent a bombardment TF to shoot up Bombay.  No problems, plenty of aircover and I have bombarded before with no problems such as pesky mines.  the theory being that the big boys stay well out to sea and lob shells down-range to the target.  Boy was i wrong !

I'm on the outer fringes of Darwin, and looks like I'll have a fight on my hands...at last he has stopped running.  It is simply a case of massing all of my troops before marching forward.  The bad news is that this is going to take some time as my troops are spread from arsehole to breakfast between Darwin and Townsville.[8|]

In the meantime there were a large number of fat targets sitting at Paramushiro Jima...sent a CV TF to try and hit them but the rabbit saw me and ran.  Port damage at Paramushiro Jima is now at 100% so I am tipping that he will have to start flying supplies in [8D]  I own the air above Paramushiro Jima and Onnekotan Jima.

An air attack against Panaji sees me coming off second best, while a raid against Gili Gili has far better results.

Disaster at Darwin !

Post by Raverdave »

For weeks now I have been moving forward on a jap hold out in Darwin. With units at the ready and after days and days of sustained jap air attacks I finally moved on Darwin. Then DISASTER! Curse that Honda ! His troops attacked and drove back the brave allied forces. But the allies fought hard and it cost the japs in blood.
I have now decided that without good air cover (impossible at this point)to pull my troops back to the east coast to refit.

Mean while a CV air attack at Wake Island bleeds the jap airfarce yet again. I am now master of the air where ever I go, but lack the reach to really punish Honda.

In India, a para brigade has been landed at Rawalpindi and takes the city. The drive in India has been launched!

Where on the map is that?
The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to a close.
In its place we are entering a period of consequences..

Off Wake[8D]
Raver promises a bloody turn (I'm at work now). Last turn those DDs felt the wrath of the KB and Raver's CVs were clouded in both pahses and still cloded after eacting one hex. Amazing, isn't it.
Raver's "Australians" weren't defeated near Darwin but also a small recon force that had previously reached Perth.
A few days ago I intercepted 6 DDs (3 reported sunk, one limping) on ASW duty hunting my subs deep in the Indian Ocean in front of the very nose of his RN CVs. A huge fleet left Karachi a few days ago - destination: unknown. Ground offensive is also under way. Rawalpindi airdrop has seriously threatened Lahore's flanks.
Other areas of intrest include New Guinea and the Marshalls. Both are subjected to periodical sweeps by Lightnings.
Kuriles in the north seem safe for the time being since Raver seems to have withdrawn his heavies from the western Aleutians.
OscarIII has entered production 3 weeks ago and the first planes have already seen action around Wake. Nothing spectacular, but an improvement over the previous version.

Well the battle between KB and the USN CV Fleets come to nothing.  I sent my CVs east to come closer to Midway, 1) to give a port close for any damaged ships and 2) to use the air units based at Midway to help smash KB.   The only problem is that KB ran away.[:@]  Maybe I should start calling Honda "Sir Robbin".[:D]

Well least I know where KB is now, I might look at hitting Wake again to try and tempt battle.

Maybe lure Honda into an even carrier clash then. I doubt anyone would possibly chase you near Midway, gee I wonder what you're up to in that situation. It's just to obvious, your position is to good and you won't provoke a battle that way.
Then it hit me so hard...like a perfect diamond shot me right in the forehead, the will to do something like that

Air losses

Post by Raverdave »

Just had what would have to be the worst result ever in any of my games......I sent the better part of entire US naval air arm to hit Truk and walked away with the loss of over 470 aircraft.....most of those were Hellcats and most of those were experienced squadrons with the minimum of 70 for their skill level but most in the mid 70's and as high as 80.

The funny this is that checking the moral after the encounter shows ALL of the fighters squadrons in the high 90's, while the fat level is very low...around 20 or so.[&:]

Here are the results:-

RE: Air losses

Post by Honda »

Seeing Raver has moved his butt and updated the AAR, I'll just fill you in with the developments during the last few months. we have reached the beggining of June 1944.

INDIA:
At this poin in time, Raver is conducting his offensive. The battle is over Lahore which he successfully cut off from Delhi. I'm currently trying to puch a hole in that blocade. RAF has full air superiority witm me sending in occaisonal LRCAPs. Superfortresses are on groud support and airfield supression duty over the front lines. My airforce in India is concentraded in Panaji and has repulsed all attacks, including a B-29 raid escorded by P-38Js. Local hero is 65th Sentai's top gun Fukodome, a proud owner fo 29 kills flying a Tony.

CENTRAL PACIFIC:
The action currently is centered around USN CV fleet. I exped it to withdraw after the Truk incident. The Marshall Is. are slowly falling under US control.

SOUTH PACIFIC:
Raver has just finished conquering New Hebrides. Last stand was at Luganville where it took 6th Marine to finish the job. Nevertheless, Japanese losses are minimal. In fact, IJA has yet to experiance defeat in this war. Still, the battle to which I would commit hasn't taken place. Solomons are firmly in my hands, although they are fast becoming a salient with the impending loss of the remaining Marshal Is. New Guinea is an area of contest between airforces. Lightings from Northern Oz are regularly sweeping Gili Gili and despite acieving a slid kill ratio, they failed to break the defence.

NORT PACIFIC:
Kuriles have been left alone for months now. After a decisive winter air offensive, Raver pulled back his bombers. Daily recon of western Aleutians reports no bombers there for more then 3 months. By the end of winter, my defences there have been very compromised. May it never happen again. :)
