assigned weapons

Post by Merv0728 »

Being new to this game I created a very simple scenario & assigned 20 weapons to a unit, then did a dump.I exited & restarted the game, I then reduced the number of assigned weapons to just one by making them zero as I couldn't find a way of deleting an assigned weapon from a unit. I then did another dump & exited again.

The second dump still has the all the assigned weapons (20) that were in the first dump.

I restarted the game & all the assigned weapons (20) show in the editor window with zero assigned weapons.
Is there no way of deleting those weapons that have none assigned which would also clear them from the dump file I would think ?

It's a little unclear what you want to do, partly because I think you're mixing terminology. Let's get that fixed first: Each equipment item in a unit has two numbers for it separated by a slash (#1/#2, etc.). "Assigned" equipment is on the left hand side of that slash. The right hand side of the slash shows the "Authorized" equipment. A unit can have zero "assigned" equipment while still having a large number "authorized".

Now let's look at the Force Editor. It has two panels. The left panel is the Unit Control Panel. The right panel is the Weapons Control Panel. As you've found out, equipment is added into the unit by entering a positive number for a specific equipment item in the Weapons Control Panel. That sets the number of that equipment that is "Authorized". If you then want to change the number of "Assigned" for that item, you would do so in the Unit Control Panel. On the other hand, if you want to change the number "Authorized", including reducing it to zero (which would remove the item from the unit), you do that in the Weapons Control Panel.

Pay no attention to the Dump, it lies.

Deleting an assigned equipment requires you to go back to the editor and give it 0/0, not 0/20. If you only have one equipment in a unit, then you must add another before you can delete the first. And don't forget to save the change.

Why are you tying to make a unit with no equipment?

Hello Curtis, well you have cleared up that query, I hadn't realised
that it was possible to changed the "Authorized" to zero & thereby
deleting the item.
But, in fiddling about with this I have come across something else.

I created 1 Unit with 1 item of equipment for Force 1 & 2, saved the
scenario, did a dump which was all ok. I then added another item of
equipment to Force 1,saved it & did a dump. It has correctly updated
the force 1 & 2 except that the new item has been added to the Force
2 "Complete Equipment Inventory" not to the Force 1.

PS. I'm not trying to create anything, just finding out what happens & fiddling about.
