Two Questions About Profiles

Post by DreamTeams »

1) I've created and placed some profiles in my 'profile' folder. How do CPU teams select thses profiles? Will these teams select from my profiles on their own or do I have to assign them? If I assign a certain profile to a team will this team draft a QB in the first round every season or will it select from the other profiles in order to fill needs?

2) How do I get the game to place the best player in the starting slot? I've read that it's done through the profile, but how? For example, if the first QB listed in the profile has a criteria 1) pass accuracy and 2) agility, shouldn't the game start the player that matches that? Is this how it decides who gets the start?

As far as I know, you must set a team to 'Human' to import a profile. I think that until you do this, teams just use the default profile. You can set it back to cpu after and it will keep what you imported.

Im pretty sure that teams follow the profile exactly, and dont adjust it on the fly. So unless you manually adjust each teams profile yourself, they will always draft as their profile is set up, regardless of their need. I think I posted this in the Suggestions/Wishlist forum.

There is, I think, an issue with CPU teams not using the profile properly as far as depth. Pretty sure I saw David mention this as a fix in the upcoming patch.

In my solo leagues, I currently use the profile to draft only in season 1. After that, I turn off drafts. I assume that with no draft, the CPU will use the profile to replace players as needed.

At this time, profiles must be assigned.

It is a good idea to change these for each team each season.

It would be nice to be able to have an option of having all computer controlled teams assigned a random profile from the folder prior to the draft, but it is a little too late to ask for that with the 2.x series release.

Im not as interested in what profile a team has, as much as I would like to see a layer of AI that uses the profile to determine the makeup of the roster, then analyzes the current roster and drafts for need.

The profile may list QB QB RB RB RB and so on, in that order, but since 2 DBs just retired, that becomes the draft priority.

I agree, as I have mentioned this as a wishlist item.

One thing to keep in mind is that Maximum Football wasn't originally designed with many career or GM type features.  David wanted the game to do a little less from the start and then build on that.  What can be done on Maximum Football 2.x is pretty much done, but this is an area that will likely see some nice changes for Maximum Football 3.x.

If an AI is going to get more involved, it needs to be able to do more than that.  Those 2 DB's may be scrubs, but if they were starters, the team would have some needs.  It would really be nice if the game tracked game starts and checked that for needs while allowing the profile to have a selection for needs and BPA (best player available) along with positions.

Of course, what is always best is to have a league with more human controlled teams to do live drafting or at least submit a team profile.
