Access should not be automatic. Access is granted in Eia on a per case basis. Meaning you say you want to send these corps in once you have let them in they can stay according to the stipulations set forth in the agreement.
So In EiANW I would suggest being allowed to cancel access, but your "trapped corps" be allowed to leave.

So, per-corps, per-ally binary access (allowed to enter any territory, or not), access only checked on entrance?

Or if access is revoked, movement w/n an allied or neutral major should only be permitted if it reduces distance to friendly territory (in other words, must be heading home)? (and on a related matter, would the 'trapped' corps be required to move, or would sitting there be permissible?)

Gotchya! I'll leave this as is for now!

Except one change needs making:

If player A requests access in the diplomacy phase, and later in that phase player B grants access, then at the end of the diplomacy phase access should be granted. The current situation is that since player A requests access before player B grants it, access is not granted and the players have to wait an additional month before access is granted.

Players should be able to accept an alliance, request an alliance, grant access, and request access, in any order in the diplomacy phase, and it should all be resolved at the end of that phase. You need a method to request an alliance, accept an alliance, grant access, and request access, all in one step in the diplomacy phase.

Marshall, not to be rude, but have you ever played EiA? This is pretty fundamental to the game.

I guess the way to solve it is that like french and english move order changes allow access asked for to be granted in the reinforcement phase. Its not as in EiA but as the program doesnt split diplomacy phase in to sub-phases this is the way to go around it without requiring more mail exchanges.

Or alternativly go TCP/IP and a lot of timing/sequence problems go away.
