HCE bundle or stand alone???

This new Commander's Edition of Harpoon Classic includes land units, neutral and unknown sides, an improved radar and area ECM model and a host of other improvements. Rounding that out are over 200 scenarios and the WestPac Battleset. Try out this great new version of the classic Harpoon!

HCE bundle or stand alone???

Post by ird »

I owned the original Harpoon years ago and loved it. I only recently came across this when I purchased JTCS. My question is - should I go for the bundle or just the HCE. What differences are there between the two?? Can anyone give me a bit of guidance please

Oh dearrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

My suggestiion is go with the digital version of HCE, then get the H3 game if you get bored with HCE.

I think the main differences are H3 is alot more buggy, and is more micromangement with smaller forces than HCE, which ranges up to theatre level battles.

I don't think you can go wrong with the bundle, HC for the larger battle, H3 for the smaller ones.  Then when you feel like a human vs. human battle, H3 is your only choice.  If you loved the original Harpoon computer games then I can almost assure you you'll love HCE (I prefer the winharp/DOSHarp style interface of fixed window sizes but that's my only real beef, and pretty illogical at that).

OK - I decided on HCE only, went to the purchase page (for the UK) - and when I try to order HCE (either physical shipment + download or physical shipment only) it automatically includes the entire bundle and won't allow me to remove ANW!!!!!!! What's going on. It doesn't do it if I request download only but I like to have a physical copy of a game if possible.
Also, on the first screen it advises that the game is not in stock but when I add it to my shopping list it comes up as in stock!!!! Can anyboy help me out with this please????????[&:]

Perhaps try: http://www.digitalriver.com/dr/v2/ec_Main.Entry17C?SID=50505&SP=10023&CID=120628&PID=946296&PN=1&V1=946296

I went to www.matrixgames.com, clicked on Store, then clicked on UK, then clicked on Larry Bond's Harpoon - Commander's Edition in the right-hand column (Our latest releases), chose physical+download then add to cart and it did what I wanted.  Worked in both IE7 and Firefox 2.0.0.1.

It may help to clear your cache first if the store is utterly confused at this point.
