Trying with finances for the first time

Post by JimboJ »

After playing this game for a few years with finances turned off, I'm thinking about starting up a new league with finances on. I prefer smaller leagues (8-12 teams) with fictional players. Does anyone have any advice for setting up the league, as far as game options, etc.? I'm interested in knowing how everyone else sets up their league? thanks

I had a novelette written, explaining how I used the finances in an assn I ran for about 50 seasons. My reply was so long that the session timed out and the post was lost. Maybe that's an omen.....

Bottom line here: If you don't manage your games, I advise you to set up your association as Multiplayer, with all teams under human control. If you choose this option, you DO NOT have to enter an FTP number, so the assn is not a "real" Multiplayer and you do not need to go on-line for anything game-related. You will be the GM and owner of all teams, with an option to later make any or all of them computer-controlled.

If you want to manage your games, you cannot go the Multiplayer route. The program, as written, does not allow this option.

Set up as Multiplayer, then get in there and have fun ! ! !

Thanks motnahp, but I do like to manage all my games, so I won't be using multiplayer (unless that gets changed in a future version.

I'm looking at starting an association with finances turned off. I have never played this way before. For those of you who are experienced with playing both ways what seems to be the more challenging way to play? What do you find to be the main differences between the two set-ups?

I am looking to do a fictional league with maybe 20 teams in it.

Also, motnahp, why do you say what you did regarding setting the league up as a multi-player league if one were not to manage all the games individually?

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Eric
