Interface enhancement; really needed

Post by Jimmer »

I noticed tonight (again, unfortunately -- fool me twice, shame on me) that the "Main menu" button and the "End phase" button are RIGHT next to each other. This makes it particularly easy to click the wrong one if one is doing things in a hurry (Hey! Supper was waiting!). In a game against the computer, we can just load up a saved game. However, in PBEM, there doesn't seem to be any way to undo that action. This can lead to, shall we say, unpleasant consequences.

I propose moving the "end phase" button to the end. Then, move the "Main menu" button to somewhere else. ANYWHERE else, except the second position.
At LAST! The greatest campaign board game of all time is finally available for the PC. Can my old heart stand the strain?

Actually; you probably should add an "Are you sure?" box to the end-phase.

"Is that your final answer"  Oof; ouch owwie, ok, ok , I surrender, no requests for "are you sure" screens
(by the way - mentioning VISTA is unfair & a low blow)

I cannot see a problem doing that.
Anybody else have a opinion?
Thank you

It is a good idea to either move the buttons or add an "are you sure" screen. I prefer the "are you sure" screen myself.

I've hit the wrong button on more than a few occaisions. Then I have to reload the game from the last phase.

Moving the button would get my vote - I personally am not keen on confirmation dialogs

I agree move it. I have hit it more than a few times when i didn't mean too. It needs to be isolated if you don't have a confirm screen. Maybe move it to more in the center, where the PBEM buttons show up.

Make it optional, then.

Oh, and Vista is protecting your butt doing that. Don't knock it until you've worked in security for a few years.

This one cost me Denmark and Norway; I clicked it before I moved my northern fleets into action.

Wouldn't mind seeing an "are you sure" dialogue if you're trying to save over an existing setup file.  It's somewhat annoying trying to load a default and realizing that you've just replaced it with an empty setup, since the setup files are embedded somewhere in an installation executable.
