War In the Med

Post by histgamer »

I wonder do the creators of the War in the Med mod think this expansion will make it possible for them to return to the mod and make it more perfect? I know they said due to the limits with the current WITP they couldn't really do what they wanted to. Think this will change that?

Maybe fremen should be allowed to buy the AE and examine it first?

Overall - I still think there will be issues. But will it change? Yes. Somethings will be easier, somethings will be at least as hard. On balance, will what WITM was attempting to do be easier or harder? I can't really say. That wasn't one of our design considerations. But from an OOB perspective, I would say things will definitely be better. As to the map and the representations of the nations, things will probably be more like the same. WITP and even AE are not intended to be the "game that does everything" and neither will do well at trying to push this edge.

The change of map scale should be a good thing for a Med scenario.

"Harder"

AE however may make the air war easier to represent. I have some ideas. Always a dangerous thing........ [:D]

WITM40 that i started with Mifune (Most of Axis side and devices is already done for WITP normal edition) is currently on hold pending what will happen with AE.

I will decide that when have my own copy of the AE, next summer i hope.
Anyway, the WITM mod was only (in my opinion) a funny scen to try some issues. The hard coded features of the WITP engine provoke many strange situations and need of heavy set of HR to play it.
The scale of the AE is only slighty better than WITP was.
Moreover, i think Dili and Minfune are now working heavy in the mod but their work is totally unknown to me.[:D]

Right now it is stopped like i said above. It will need important house rules in what i call Events, mostly LCU/Ships/AirUnits that have to retire at certain time: German Forces in Balkans and Greece  that arrive in 41 and can only be employed for a couple of months , Italian units that go for Russia, a smallish German unit with T-34 and KV-1 that was supposed to be employed only in Malta Invasion,  Many US and British ships for Torch and Husky, all of them are noted at start of Unit name and it will be easy to manage. If AE will work i will have to correct weapons of French, right now they arent much more than a token force in the Alps to make Italians busy in first weeks and in Levant to keep busy the British. The Axis side is really advanced including real commanders in most units above Regiment also Ships and Submarine and of course HQs. Mifune also was working in the map with several more airbases made in North Africa, Italy, Balkans and Greece, shipyards with what we think correct capacity, italian plane factories in right cities etc.
