Looking It Over

To what level do you control units.

Task forces or individual ships or?

And do you control subs directly?

Looks like a great game, thinking of checking it out.

Thanks

It's a good game, I enjoy it.

You control task forces, they are pre-set before start, you can detach heavily damaged capital ships but they steam directly to port under AI control.

Subs are out of your control also, but they do a good job.

The game is well worth the money.

In Carriers at War you control Task Groups, which belong to higher level Task Forces. Important ships which suffer damage can be detached under AI control and returned to port in an effort to avoid further damage. Less important ships which are slowing down a Task Group can be scuttled. We need to keep the Task Groups together to stop the human players from creating 50 TGs of one ship each and totally confusing the sighting routines.

We don't let the player control submarines in order to prevent the creation of ahistorical wolf packs, which armed with historical hindsight would otherwise loiter in areas in which they had no place to be.

Rest assured, there are still plenty of decisions to make and many exciting moments in the game.
