Scenario Editor question regarding very large scenarios

This new Commander's Edition of Harpoon Classic includes land units, neutral and unknown sides, an improved radar and area ECM model and a host of other improvements. Rounding that out are over 200 scenarios and the WestPac Battleset. Try out this great new version of the classic Harpoon!

Scenario Editor question regarding very large scenarios

Post by SteveF2006 »

Why is it when there is a huge scenario, like the WWIII scenario, if you try to open it, you get a general protection error? Is there a way around that? I have had this happen to many very large scenarios that I have created.

Any input from the experts is always appreciated! [:)]

If you can provide me with the exact sequence that led to your crash, I will try to reproduce it, then we can go from there.

Sure, if you go to Harpgamer.com to their download section and find, in the scenario's in the Westpac area, WWIII, try to edit that scenario. It is too big and you will see something called a "General protection error". I like really big scenarios and sometimes, when I make one of these, I get this error.

Thanks,
Steve

OK, I have successfully reproduced the crash. I will add it to the bug list. Thank you for reporting this.

Awesome! Thank you! I have a scenario that I worked for hours on. Then I saved it and closed it. (like an idiot) When I tried to open it, I received a "No Go" if you know what I mean.

Tony, do you think this will be addressed in the first patch or will it be a while? Any thoughts? [&:]

Yes, it is addressed in the first patch, pretty much by accident as we had to hold the patch back a bit to fix some nastiness.  We sent the patch in to AGSI a week ago today (dee dah dum dum dee dah dum,...) so hopefully it will appear soon as an open beta.
